My teardrop design

Postby CMC » Mon Aug 12, 2013 9:07 pm

I have been working on this design for a while now. This one is my 15th revision if i am counting correctly. I am not completely done, but I thought I would put my design up here and get some opinions. My design is an 5x12 with sleeping quarters for my service dog and a basement under the sleeping quarters.

Here is the outside profile look:

Passenger side showing the interior and basement:

This is the galley with slides in the stored position:

The galley with both slides in the out position:

The galley with the extra counter top pulled out:

In the basement, I have a 20 gallon fresh water tank, and a 20 gallon grey water tank under the galley floor. There is a pass through storage in front of the door on each side. There is basement access when the door is open which will be good to store shoes and what not at night.

In the galley, one slide will hold the Camp Chef oven, and the other one with hold the 150qt cooler and sink. There will also be a trash can under the sink. I am still toying with the idea of a microwave. The electrical will be placed behind the oven slide.

There is a small tv/dvd player in one of the drawers in the cabinets located in the foot cabinets.

Things that still need to be done:
- Tongue box- will hold the battery, ac, porta-potti, and propane tank.
- hatch
- electrical box
- some other electrical outlets
- water fill and electrical outlet on side.
- possible hot water heater/shower
- ramp for dog door
- fenders

So I still have many things to finish on the design before it is final, but here is what I have now. Comments and suggestions welcomed.

Thanks,
Curtis

Your longer slide out looks like it would have to retract into the sleeping area. Seems the bed is in the way, though.

I like the basement design. Lots of storage.

Yes, you are right, but how I have the basement and cabinets, the slide will not interfere. Since I don't need a big area for my dog, I actually built up that side for a cabinet and also to hide the area that the slide needs. Here is a picture of the driver slide and how the slide is under the cabinet and does not interfere with the bed.

Curtis,

I really like your design! I can tell that you put a lot of thought into it. Plus it looks good!

I look forward to your build. Let me know when you get things cranked up and I'll swing by your home to check things out.

Take care,
Tom
