Fess up! How many lanterns per week?

Postby campmaster-k » Thu Sep 05, 2013 6:29 pm

I buy at least one lantern a week. Sometimes more. Sometimes alot more. But normally one or two a week.

How many lanterns do you buy?

Ok so maybe I have exaggerated just a little. What I should have said was 1 or 2 lanterns per trip to the bootfair. I try to go every weekend but sometimes I cannot get a kitchen pass. A KP is a must when traveling to the bootfair. Have I ever lied to get a lantern, Hmmm maybe but no sure.

My first Pressure Gas Lantern was purchased at an antique store in Mount Shasta a couple of years ago . It is a 220 J I think. I paid $35 for a near perfect lantern. I was very happy to be in the club and never looked back.

Sat and sun both will be bootfair days for me . Several lanterns will be purchased. Some propane. Just sayin. None over $5.

Ok so maybe if just the right lantern is dangled in front of me, I may pay just a little more.

One a week?!! I only have 4 total and 3 of them are propane lanterns. I'm still looking for THE one. A 200A. You must live in the right part of the country or know how to look a lot better than I.

I am pretty much at my limit for now. Last lantern I bought was for $15 in May, a 70's big hat in the mustard yellow case. The only reason that I bought it was because they both were in really good condition and I needed a case for a big hat. Now I need to find a crappy turd with good globe. Last fall my globe cracked on the way home. :(

I am very lucky. I live near a flea with lots of Coleman stuff cheap. The trouble is the stuff is mostly dog eared . A really good piece every once in awhile.

I find one now and then at an estate sale. I have a couple that are still in the factory cardboard boxes with the K Mart stickers still on them. many are still there on the last half price day. They make a great emergency lanterns for power outages. Never counted them, Hang them on Nails in the rafters of my garage. Stoves are scattered all over in my garage. Still have the one my Dad used when we went camping as kids. Still have the old cooler as well. And a few other ones I have found at garage and estate sales. Wish I had the sense to stick to just Lanterns. Then comes the cast Iron............ God help my kids when I croak and leave them with all the crap to get rid of. :) See my album for a few examples. That way she gets you out of her hair for a while and vice versa. People need time away from each other.
Makes for a healthier relationship.

I suppose you are correct Eric. So if you take that supposition to its natural end we would live in different houses and just see each other on weekends. Hmmmm. Then I could have Lanterns in MY house. I think you are on to something here. I will make my presentation tonight and give the forum full credit.

 I wonder how this will go for me. Maybe not so good. But hey its for the LC.

Just give her a Coleman Iron to play with. Maybe not they are heavy and could possibly hurt if she threw it at you. My husband thinks they are cool, but also thinks that twenty lanterns or so are enough.
