The shower

Postby Shadow Catcher » Tue Sep 17, 2013 5:39 am

Gizmag has pictured a shower which has a couple of nice innovations. It appears to be made of aluminum pressurized by a CO2 bicycle tire infiltrator or pump and using a radiator cap so it can not be over pressurized http://www.gizmag.com/road-shower-car-t ... pictures#7
I would think you could achieve the same results using a length of PVC pipe.

we find this works just fine, nothing to buy, heats up quickly, and plenty of pressure for just a few pumps.

Well isn't that a slick idea! I agree, it shouldn't be too hard to replicate in black PVC. It would be great on an off road trailer.

OLD post, I bought a Bullfrog shower point from the UK to be used in conjunction with the water heater.
You can see the outlet just above the water heater in the third picture.

The shower, NOT HERE!

Postby noseoil » Sun Aug 03, 2014 8:02 am

This is a great idea, but there's no way I would use it here in Tucson in the summertime. With daytime temps in the 100's many days, that water could be around 140f in the tube. You can't even use water out of the garden house until it runs through to the ground water, 90f is our cold water this time of year, you will be scalded with the water in the hose if it sits in the sun too long. That having been said, it's a nice idea for warming water on the cheap & easy in the right climate. A gravity feed, a hose & sprinkler head and you're in business. Air pressure and you really have an upscale system.

I guess we could use some 6" PVC here in the desert and have plenty of hot water on a trip. That's 1.46 gallons per running foot with a 6" I.D. tube, so a 6' pipe is nearly 9 gallons of hot water.
