CAD tutorial

Want to design your own teardrop or tiny travel trailer. You can do that in 2D or 3D. We keep our secrets in here!

Well, I took a break and went to get started on the 511 2+1 in IronCAD.

Everytime I go to Blend Edges for the first front radius the program locks up. I get an exception error and it will not let out, it just keeps looping the error message. Requires a three-finger solute to close the program.

:x Any ideas? Since it's a trial I don't have access to the PU1 update to even see if I can get this to work.

It sounds like a corrupted download, or a corrupted install. I would try uninstalling it, and downloading a new copy of the trial version.

Sent you a PM with the Error Messages I received on the re-install after re-downloading a new copy of the demo.

Ok Mike, V6.0 LT works! I've created an initial wrl file but I can't upload it to my personal album because the file type isn't allowed...

I don't have any other galleries to post it on yet. my website isn't up yet to host it on either...

Now I just have to figure out how to do all the other fancy stuff and export 2-D production drawings!

Send me the wrl file. I'll put it up on the web for you!

Will do, but it's very rough. The door is not the right size or shape. No child's bunk, axle, etc.

Hey BoilerMakerFan...

You've done a good job modeling so far... but why did you stop? We need to see hatches, and beds, and a bunk bed, and pillows, and curtains, and pots and pans, and and and...

But okay, here it is, for those of you who have Cortona installed!!!

Mike...

P.S. If you need the Cortona client to view the VRML (wrl) file above, you can download the free MS Internet Explorer addin here...

I did that over my lunch hour. I'm ready for the rest of the tutorial now!

How do you get Corona to zoom out? The TD is really zoomed in and off center.

There is a "fit" button in the lower right hand corner...

First hit fit, and then hit "study"!

I thought that was the whole tutorial... was there something I didn't teach you? Oh yea... the bed...

1) Drag out a block
2) Select Intellishape
3) Right click on block, and change the sizebox to 80x60x4

Add the correct texture, and place it inside!!!

Mike...

P.S. Seriously though, is there something I missed?

The easy way to do the axle, wheels, and tires.

The easiest way to open the galley hatch.

Tips on a/c, heater, keg, stove, cooler...

Sorry, there is no easy way... the best thing you can do is grab a keg, or a stove, or a cooler, measure it, and then model it. A simple wheel would be a black torus with a silver disc in the middle. The axle can be a piece of square tube running inbetween the two wheels, to represent a torsion axle.

Here's a photo of the wheels I was thinking about...

Oh, and for the hatch... subtract out a block where the hatch is going to be, and then build a hatch! Building a hatch is as easy as building the door was!!!

Exactly... it took quite a while to model the square weekender...

I built the mockup for it in a morning!!!
