My Peak1 will singe whatever is in its "ring o fire" until warmed up. Biggest flare was a cold day and about a foot tall. Im sure with your experience you wont have any problems..

Im sure a 520 will behave similarly..

The 520/530 are a different beast. On your first light I would suggest an area that is not to flammable. And if you have a fire extinguisher keep it handy. These are things I seldom do. I would kind of keep a match near the the generator to help it heat a bit quicker. Flames 2 feet high are to be expected. well, maybe only 18 inches but they will burn your whiskers right off.

You only had foot high flames when you fired up the catalytic heater? I find I need them up to my chin to get mine working good. Once they are running are pretty safe, as far as setting other things on fire. I have put wood shavings from my hand plane, less than .002 inch thick on it and they eventually char a little. Can even safely poor the fuel from a running one back into a fuel can. Just don't get them in an un vented area. CO poisoning gives a mighty big head ache. If you live. I know.
