Fount Question?

Postby Kullas » Mon Mar 17, 2014 7:32 pm

What is the best way to remove rust from a fount and keep it from coming back? I got a 220 that has that problem and I cant get it cleaned out enough to keep it lit for long.

When I clean the fonts out with bb's I pour the old fuel through a paper towel and strain out the rust. I keep shaking and pouring it out till the paper towel stops catching anything. Sometimes 4-5 cycles. Usually does the trick.

SIDE BAR.......... I went into my local Hardware store looking for BB's. The girl at the counter says, "We don't sell ammunition". I said I just want BB's not bullets. She says that bb's are ammunition. She then says give me 2 things you can do with bb's beside shoot them.
I said I am cleaning a Coleman lantern font of rust. Also on a 200A if you put a bb in before putting the bail handle on it keeps the handle from hitting the vent.
She just gave me a blank look and said, "well we don't sell them". So I drove over to Walmart. So much for supporting the little hardware store.

How are you supposed to let the air out of a tire if you can't get a bb to put under the valve stem cap?

My son carried one around for years as an integral part of one of his fingers. It finally started causing him problems and he had it taken out.

I think he learned something about gun safety along the way.

Cheers,

Gus

Gun safety is foremost, she is 14 and have been shooting her bb gun for around 6 years now and real guns for about 3 years now. the only one i cant get her to shoot is my 300 mag
