1 Pot Sausage & Mushroom Pasta

I tested this recipe this week and DH has approved it as a keeper.

(Basic ingredients = Italian sausage, onion, garlic, mushrooms, can of crushed tomatoes, broth, pasta, Parmesan.)

My modifications for taking it camping:
I would pre-cook the sausage at home along with the chopped onion, and freeze the combo. Then it would be super easy to pull that out of the cooler and dump it in the cast iron pot along with everything else.

If starting with frozen/cold cooked meat, I would wait to add the pasta until after everything else has come up to the first boil.

I didn't have fresh mushrooms for my test but canned worked fine.

With 1 lb. of sausage and 1 lb. pasta, this filled my large pot and made enough for 2 full meals for the 2 of us -- and that's with DH being a big pasta eater. I would cut the recipe in half for camping since there would not be room in the cooler for leftovers.
