Every once in a while I run into bargains. I had a great time camping and I guess I know that I need to go more often. Even if it is just for the weekend. I am working on some of the "finishing" things to my TD some people call it "still building" and I won't argue.

I'll second the pot roast. I've done crock pot, roasting bags in the oven, and the cast iron dutch oven. It is always better out of the cast iron. I can get it close with the others, but if I have the time, I will use the iron.

I went to the renaissance festival this last weekend and saw these neat weapons made out of FOAM and some rubber. the one who makes these also makes for the movies. They look so real. but my point in putting them here is showing the versatility and the possible sculptures and how another makes use of foam. The young man in blue is my adopted grand son who helped me with Grits early on. The gentleman works in the "Booth" that sell these magnificent sculptures.

I have been slowly deciding how to make my closet and finally decided how to do it. I have been somewhat busy, here is some pictures of my latest work, I cut strips of foam and have glued them together , cut the wood strips that will give the closet some extra strength. Now it is just a one at a time, glue and wait and glue and wait glue and canvas and wait , glue and canvas some more, wait and wait then a little more glue. and so it goes.... I will get there!!

Bonnie, the couple of people that make them also make them for the movies. I asked about the fire ax and it was used in a couple of movies. They explained that the insurance cost was much less if they used the foam ones. But I just thought it was so fantastic that they were made with foam and rubber, they look so real.

It has been quite a while since I posted but a lot has happened I went to Texas for 2 Weeks and my house was broken into. also my two vehicle was stolen. My son gave me Blue Belle and then I took it back to Texas in November and I spent several weeks with my daughter in law befor she passed away with ovarian cancer. She fought it for 7 and a half years. Then I drove up to Mineral Wells Texas and my brother and I begtan an over hall to my little foamie.

The problem was I had only one coat of gripper painton it but I could not paint again and the black mold took over. I knew that I had to do somethiing, I knew that I had to clean it up and take the canvas that was under the foam and just change stradgies. no I was not going to be able to take it off the trailer. It would be permanent. The first thing we did was to wash it down with clorox and soapy water. It was soaked and scrubbed and soaked again then rinsed. we then took it off the plywood base. one picture shows my foamie part hanging in the work shop and the other the base outside of the shop. we repainted the base and worked hard correcting some hurried building shortcuts and did them with the use of all of my brothers tools.

131908 re worked on the wood above the metal
we had to take off the whole thing

Sad as it was I had to take the wiley windows apart and repaint the doors and cut off a quarter of an inch down the side. Next we worked on the material glueing on the inside of the hatch oh what a job.

Sorry for the loss of your DIL, Mary. I am sure that your support was meaningful in her last days.

It is nice that you are getting a lot done on Grits! It should be that much better when you get to go camping again.

While I was glueing lots of canvas on the inside my brother was building the front box, He decided he wanted to do this for me. I had not decided what I wanted but it was what he wanted to do.
