Lenora & I made this our 'big' trip for 2014. Left central Arkansas early Sat morning Aug 9th, & took 5 1/2 days getting to New Fork Lake (woodbutcher, we spent a couple of days at Firehole C/G before making it on up to Pinedale, wonderful place!). Had an absolutely great time, both traveling & at the gathering. We arrived at the C/G a little after noon on Thursday & for a while we wondered if we were in the right place
. No one was there & tho the gate was unlocked it hadn't been opened yet. We pushed it open & drove on in & found a parking spot. Waited around a couple of hours but no one showed. We'd forgotten a couple of items we needed to get in Pinedale, & it was our oldest Great Grandaughter's 13th birthday so we un-hitched & drove back to town to get our stuff & call/text her B'day wishes. Met/passed Steve & Cynthia coming in while still on the gravel road, & they were all setup when we returned along with Martin & Liz, & Will & Lisa. Other folks arrived throughout the day & Friday. Was beginning to think Mike was 'ducking out' on us but he arrived Saturday morning. Had rain showers Thur & Fri but Sat was nice all day. Beautiful location but Lenora & I aren't used to temperatures like that in August (lows in the 40's don't feel so good to us anymore, especially when you hafta 'get-up' & go outside in the night
). Met some great folks & was especially happy to finally meet Mike, aka slow cowboy. Couldn't ask for a nicer host, & Will kept things moving along 'til Mike arrived. It's a long drive for us (around 1435 miles, one way) so we may not make it again for a few years but we will if things work out. Left Sunday morning & drove up thru Grand Teton & Yellowstone NP's which we hadn't seen for a number of years. Spent most of one day touring the Buffalo Bill Museum & western center in Cody, WY; then on to the Wind River Canyon near Shoshoni, WY. Temps were beginning to moderate there but lotsa flies kept us from enjoying it as much as we might have. Spend a couple more days heading SE & finally made it back home 'bout eleven Thursday nite
. Been resting up & catching up on stuff at home today. Took lotsa pix & will try to post a few here...
Think we may have had the same campsite as Woodbutcher at Firehole C/G -
Camp visitor (think Cynthia or Liz called him 'Bucky') at New Fork Lake
Tony & Stacy's rig
Dee's little Scotty
Jane' new Jayco Swift; not exactly a TTT but not too large either...
Bill's new T@G, & Galley
Lee & Norma's homebuilt TD
Liz & Martin's 'Bubbles'
Steve & Cynthia's homebuilt TD
Mike's TD with Will & Lisa's Scamp in background
Terry shows off his galley
Liz & Martin display the banner after the potluck, before 'light-up'
Mike watches while Terry & Martin make adjustments & work on lanterns (my old lantern wouldn't even pump
)
Sunday, heading toward Yellowstone, the Tetons are always impressive
Saw this WV homebuilt parked in Yellowstone but no one around (saw it again Monday at McDonalds in Cody but still no one around
)
Our campsite at Buffalo Bill SP west of Cody, WY
