You'll be fine!

As I helped to care for my father in his last years, I had no problem remembering all he had ever done for me.
I only wished I could have done more.
I wasn't "ready" but it didn't matter. What more can you do for a loved one than your best.
He deeply appreciated that all his children cared enough to help, he was very embarrassed that we had to help him do things he could no longer do himself, but it all worked out.

It is good that you are helping your mom, but remember you aren't supposed to do it all, get some help, take turns, don't wear yourself down.
If you are always tired and grouchy and sore with mom, the experience won't be good for anyone.

Waiting for "someday" will leave you on your deathbed wondering why you didn't just rearrange your priorities and enjoy the time you had, instead of waiting for a "better" time to come along...

Most of my life, I felt I was a bit of a disappointment to my mother. So many things she wanted for me that I didn't want for myself. Anyway, I moved in to her home to care for her the last three months. I was lucky in that she wasn't bedridden until the last 24 hours, so I had it easy compared to a lot in my position.

Everyday, Mom asked me why I was there. When I told her, everyday, that she had cancer, she thanked me for coming. I finally had done something right.

You've probably heard stories of elderly accusing family of stealing from them. I was prepared for that, I thought. It was still like a hot knife in the heart. She saw people who were not there, confused family members, couldn't remember how to get into the car. Just go with the flow.

You won't regret doing the right thing.
