Dinner

Postby noseoil » Mon Jan 26, 2015 7:43 am

Did a bit of sanding & seasoning on the new dutch oven & finally used it last night. For a first attempt it went very well. Here are a few pictures.

Building the meal with potatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, onion, carrots & chicken

Cooking at 350 degrees (25 coals)

Got the chicken too close to the lid, oops! But it still tasted great.

Finally, our first meal.

Clean-up was easy, since I did the bees wax trick to season the oven again after sanding the bottom smooth. I just used a finish sander & coarse paper to knock down some of the casting marks. The older iron really was better finished then the new stuff, but it's all good.

When my yeast bread get too close to the lid I coat it with a little butter
and lay foil over it shiny side up. It seem to reflect enough heat it will not burn ( or stick)

Just an F.Y.I.
