Okay, where to buy painted aluminum???

I've been looking everywhere. Checked this forum, checked the Design Resources posts and I'm coming up empty.
I'd like royal blue 4 x 8 for my sides... is that such a difficult find?

I found a place selling .040 painted white... I guess I could buy that and try to paint it blue myself.
Has anyone done THAT?

Try another Sign Shop. It is made in colors.

They have blue, my buddy just made a blue one. They may have to order it in.

May not be an option lotsa places but a few miles from home there's a shop that builds 'stock car' racing vehicles. They have a goodly supply of painted 0.040" aluminum sheets that they use in the body construction. I've known of a couple of folks who persuaded them to sell a few sheets. If you can find such a cooperative business (or a sign shop) that may solve your problem.

About $55 for 4x8 sheets. They have pretty much any color you want in stock. Check out the blue on the trailer we just finished.

Now to find the 5' wide mill finish or anodized for the top & hatch. They carry nothing in 5' and I don't want to deal with seams.

Marc, I'm happy they had what you needed.

I use the same aluminum on all the teardrop including the roof and galley lid.
I contact cement it on with a 2" lap seam held down with 3M VHB tape (about $97 for a 1" x 36 yard roll).
In my opinion it's a lot easier handling the smaller pieces than a full 5' x 10' sheet on the roof.
My galley lid is 47" x 60" so a 4' x 10' sheet cut in half is perfect.
If you go this route make sure you expose the lap seam away from the front (towards the rear) where wind driven rain is.
For good measure I use 1/2" counter top trim & sealant screwed over the roof lap seams.
There should never be a problem this way.

I call up CDA metals in Missoula (HQ in CDA Idaho). The make a run down here once a week to the local steel store and deliver it to me for $10. Somebody carries it in Boise.

Thanks Tony, I'll look them up and give them a call. I'm getting really frustrated here... I've been to 3 RV repair places that all say "yea, we can order that from Interstate RV Metals in Portland" then tell me it will cost double for shipping.

If worse comes to worst, I'll hit you up for the name of your local steel store and have them order for me, then take a day off work and drive up to Salmon to pick it up. I'll still save a ton on shipping.
