Scary stuff. Be careful. I had it 27 years ago and I am convinced it is the cause of many joint and other issues I have today.

Interesting. My doctor back about 1990 stopped with my vaccination shots (after the bite and red circle rash) because he said they were discontinued. But this article says they were stopped around 2000. I am convinced today that the bite is responsible for the arthritis in my knees and vertabraes and some other issues.

All should take precautions when it comes to ticks. If the vaccinations were available today, I would get one.

Yes, it is possible to have Lyme disease and not know it. My Father was finally diagnosed with it after years of wondering what was going on.....took specialists in SF to finally solve the case of what had been ailing him. He never had any bullseye rash, or other noticeable symptoms and he was an avid outdoorsman. At first the doctors just thought it was a decline due to his age, in his early 80's, but he went on with his daily routine and just passed this fall at age 93. Many of his symptoms in the later years were what you might expect in an older person, such as crankiness, fatigue, aches, etc. He was always a very fit, healthy man, and it was a mystery as to what was wrong with him, especially how closely the symptoms coincided with the onset of aging, but a specific blood test finally showed it after the Doctors had exhausted all the other possibilities.

Crankiness?
I did not know that could be a result of the disease. Now I have an excuse that I can pass on to my wife.

About three years ago I was bitten by one tick while camping up in the Maryland/Delaware area in my Tear Drop on friends property. It was when I got home I noticed it and had my wife try to extract it (it was on my left cheack area) no, not my face! :FNP

Most of my aches and pains started shortly after that, including the fatigue and lazy ness. I told my Navy Doctor about it and asked for a blood test, which was done but I am pretty sure that it was not as thorough as civilian Doctors, The test never showed any sign of Lyme Disease!! Now that I turned 65 this year, I go to the civilian Docs for everything now that Medicare kicked in. Next visit next week I will ask for a better blood test.

This may have something to do with my operation last week, had Back Surgery for removal of some bone and fat around the L-3/L-4/L-5 for the pressure on my Sciatica nerve plus the tingling from my waist to my toes! :? Yeah, I was in pretty bad shape. After one week since the operation I have no tingling in my legs and feet. It should be another week or two till I get the full results and less pain all together. :worship:

My dad just went through a bout of Lyme's disease. If you suddenly start having aches in your peripheral joints, go see the doctor! The disease itself is fairly easy to get rid of, but the damage it does is permanent.

Yes, by all means go to the doctor. If you do not get the proper attention in your opinion, try another doctor. I am convinced that my issues are related to it, but it is hard to get some medical people to buy into it.

No use for Dr's and Lyme diagnosis. They purely suck at it. I'd look again. Too many run the test and stop there. We were in Rehoboth DE a few years back and got covered with ticks in the state park. Couple of weeks later the tell-tale rash shows up so I call the Dr. They tell me "See you in two weeks call earlier if the rash exceeds 5 inches in diameter". Fail #1. It's 5 CM. In the interim they send me to the lab for testing - comes back negative. Fail #2. Lyme test is inaccurate as all get-out especially in the early stages and can't be 100% trusted ever so symptoms are the key.

So the Dr got to see below and had no clue. By that time it was over a month in and I was sick as a dog and am having ortho probs that my (trusted) ortho keeps thinking are Lyme related.
