As it happens while I was out walking my Dog this morning, I noticed someone had left a 16 gallon Ridgid wet/dry vac in the gutter with their trash; so I came back shortly after with the car to pick it up.
I found it works perfectly, gave it a good clean with hot soapy water and a brush, and rinsed out the filter; now it's as good as new. The only damage to it is 2 broken caster wheels, which I found on ebay for $5 each.

Ain't it amazin' what people will toss out and why ! I found a very nice upright vacuum with all tools aboard in the trash so ,like you, I stopped and grabbed it. Most of these have the $4.00 beater bar belt burned off and so they are tossed. This one was not the case. When I got it home I discovered the cord was cut off. I temporarly fixed it with an extra extention cord I had handy and it worked perfectly. I can only guess the cord was badly damaged and shorted ?????

On to Saturday's yard sale finds............

I am about $200.00 lighter but about $2000.00 ahead of the game.

I went to a friends yard sale and he was in a toss away mood.

Image

5 double insulated vinyl windows with all screens never installed $20.00 each

I had tried to buy this cabinet off of him 2 years ago and was turned down. Well it was in the sale and I got it for $25.00

Image

I even talked him out of this Ryobi portable table saw for $100.00

Image

and he tossed in a red lensed Dietz railroad lantern as a freebie.
( I have seen close to $100.00 tags on those lanterns at serious flea markets )

Even picked up 2 more walkers at a buck a piece for my dutch oven table frames
and a couple of the metal clam shell salad tongs I use with the dutch ovens to arrange coals.
They were a quarter a piece :D

Another sale netted this beauty for $50.00

Image

All in all it was a good yard sale day

I downsized recently, and gave up my awesome Craftsman table saw for the folding Ryobi. Not nearly the saw the Craftsman was, but takes up about 1/4 the space when not in use, very easy to move around, and not a bad saw at all!
Yard sales have become places to buy baby clothes here, it seems. I have given up on them in favor of an extremely local internet phenomenon called VarageSale.

I have a delta homekraft but it takes 3 men and a mule to move the monster.
The light weight Ryobi is nice until it wants to walk away while you are ripping a board.

When I built moms cabinet doors I was really wanting a little portable saw.

I had to rip the 1x 2 1/2" sides with a circular saw :(

Very nice lantern, BH! My latest score was a retracting extension cord that still had the tags on it, for $20. I will mount it to the ceiling of my garage soon!

It has been a good summer for bargains......

What ! No one else yard sales ??????

Well I have left notes here and there with regards to a run of kitchen cabinets , a brand new $900.00 6 foot atrium entry door and even a 5x10 ramp equipped trailer.
I got return calls from 2 of the offers.

Well the 6 foot atrium door is unloaded into the house in a house. Total cost a one hundred dollar bill. Image

The trailer is mine for $225 I pick it up TuesdayImage

and the 10' run of nice custom built hardwood cabinets are still simmering at $250.00.Image

With our national tiny trailer gathering this weekend my time is stretched real thin or I would have all my prizes gathered up already.

Just can't miss the Cross Roads of America National tiny trailer gathering. With little teardrops and other custom little trailers arrive from 40 plus states
and we even have 2 Canadians going to join us this year.

I have been asked to build a tiny house 192 sq ft (12 x 16) for a gal at my bank.

I am gathering pieces and parts at these ridiculous prices in anticipation of this project.

Bob, you are crowned the "King of Yard Sales"! I love a good bargain also and hit Salvation Army when I feel the need for some gently-loved stuff, that I usually don't need, but want. And I can always get it discounted lower than the asking price by just asking. We have a Salvation Army store here that people line up in the mornings to get in just for their furniture. I've gotten so many pieces of real wood furniture for unbelievably cheap prices. Our Goodwill store has practically no furniture but lots of household/nicknacks/clothes. Salvation Army is my go-to bargain store.

Last winter I scored two brand new 60" ceiling fans originally $170 for $40 each. We have 13' ceilings and large rooms.
Then I beat that with two http://www.hunterfan.com/Ceiling-Fans/Discovery fans for $10 each. I love home depot clearance.

Good finds. Y'all now are very lucky. I go into my local Goodwill and all I see are a great number of clothes.

I am amazed at the bargains you guys can score. I've always avoided garage sales because I didn't want to add to my own over-abundance of stuff.

I did take a tip from Bob Henry and went to the thrift store for a walker ($4.99). Now I have a portable grill stand to take to the beach.

If I had a garage, it would be full of finds I don't need.
