Last call for an old cat

Postby noseoil » Fri Jul 31, 2015 7:24 am

We had to put down our old cat yesterday afternoon, when I got home from work. "Itty Bitty" was named by my son when he arrived 20 years ago, a gift from our friends & a family member for all that time. My son was in 1st grade then, he finished doing two years as a drill instructor in the Army last December. Gives you some idea of the amount of time we spent with this old cat in the house.

Paul called when he found out, to tell me how sorry he was about his old cat passing away. He thanked me for doing what had to be done. As it turns out, today is his 26th birthday.

My build has some cat prints along the top of one wall in the finish. Last year, when I was doing the urethane on one of the walls, the old man jumped up on the saw horses to examine the work & do a close inspection for me when I wasn't there. He ambled across one edge, then must have jumped down. As the finish dried I noticed the paw marks. I decided to leave them in place & now I'm glad I did.

Sorry to hear that you had to put him down. I know how you feel and only time will fill the void. It is nice you have an accidental memento to remember.

Hi Tim, we are both so sorry to here the news of you beautiful old cat. The world would be a very empty place without our fur children. It is sad when they leave us, but we do get so much back from them. You will be pleased you still have his signature on your wall. We have a nice set of prints in the concrete in our wood shed, from our Papillion "Ruby".

What a beautiful cat. Have been there more than once with cats and dogs.....so hard, but they give us so much joy. I'm glad you have the paw prints, too. What a great reminder of a wonderful companion.

When I lost my hair to chemo, I considered having paw prints tattooed on my scalp, before the hair grew back. Unfortunately, chemo reduces your immune system so tattoos are not a great idea.

A good cat is like a member of the family - except with fangs and fur.

Well, a grumpy cat is like a member of the family, too - except kind of like your mean uncle who starts the fights at the Thanksgiving table. You still miss him when he is gone. My kids still miss my grumpy cat Slim, even though he hissed at them and tried to scratch when they got too close.
