I have a question for all you foamies... So far I only have one coat of Gripper holding the canvas to the wall. Since it's an inside wall, I don't need the protection that an outside wall might. What's the best way to finish the inside canvas?

Thinned TBII, and then Latex paint?

Gripper and then Latex paint?

2 coats of latex paint?

My samples from a few weeks ago were for the exterior finish, so I have no idea what's best for the interior.

Walls without TB II are 'soft' compared to those with TB II. You can push your finger into painted canvas while TB II walls are 'hard' like wood. I did TB II on all my interior because I plan on leaning on the walls, elbowing them, chucking stuff in there on the way out of town, etc. After that, it all boils down to how much you want to spend. The first coat on the canvas uses roughly two times more paint than following ones.

TB2 is still one of the best products for our purposes , and is relatively inexpensive ... If you wanted a harder area , you could try some thin chipboard ... which would add a little weight but a lot of strength ...

Right you are Glenn,

I trimmed the second side today, and glued the canvas edges down.

Here are the sides, finished with a few layers of TBII.



Also painted the insides with a color from Behr called aged eucalyptus...



And put more poly on the floor; there's also the mix on the edges of the plywood floor, and certain important end pieces!!!

Then I glued up the walls...



Glued in the spars



Built up some wheel wells



Covered the wheel wells



And installed the BAL trailer stabilizers, and started trimming the canvas on the bottom...



That's enough for one day. What do you think?

Looks very professional. Hope my first build looks half as good as that.
Not sure if I missed it or if you didn't mention....where did you get the canvas from? I don't see any seams. Special ordered?
And how far are you from Howell....would love to see this in person.

Did you get the smooth finish you were looking for ? More than one coat of TB2 should have filled in the weave pretty well.

That’s really coming together so NICELY !!! Really Like the floor and wheel wells .... that’s really going to be a great foundation for the camper shell ...

Thanks for all the comments. Unfortunately there won't be much to show today, as I am working on stuff that just takes time.

For example, I am cutting a roof panel, that is going to hold a window. Now THAT takes time!!!

What you see on the left is the outside half, on the right, the inside half...
