Shooting in VA

I suspect many of you have heard by now about the fatal shooting of two TV news persons who were interviewing the
C of C director this morning. She was also shot but is critical condition now. I know the lady, having worked with her several years back when I was the President of our local Striped Bass fishing club. The location of the shooting is only about 7 miles from me by land and much less by boat.

What a tragedy These were two young TV personalities who were starting a good life and a good career. The shooter was pursued several hundred miles away and he shot himself at the final end of the chase.

I share this to show that bad things can happen in your back yard and one much be very careful these days; especially when we are on the road. My thoughts go out to all the persons and families affected by this senseless act.

What a tragic story. :( It sounds as if this was being planned for quite a while, and the authorities even knew something was up. I hate that we, as a society, wait for something terrible to happen before we are willing to step up and do something about it. There is so much to "blame" here, but that doesn't do any good. However, we need to fix how we deal with mental illness, how we handle threats within the police departments..... We spend too much time worrying about the bad guy's rights, and not enough time worrying about the victim's rights, right up until the victims are dead.

Please people, if you see crazy happening, tell someone. Try to stop it before it goes too far.
