QYamaha EF2000iS

I just received in the mail a flyer from Cabelas. From 12/10 to 12/16, with a purchase of their Yamaha ER2000iS generator, you get $200 in thier bonus bucks. If you are a Cabelas purchaser like I am, then this brings the real purchase price to $799.

This really interests me now. I would prefer it be a Honda, but as a YAMAHA 150HP outboard owner, I am impressed with their quality and believe I cannot go wrong with one of these generators. Now I have a few anagonizing days to make up my mind.

PS. In is not posted on their web site now. I guess you have to wait til 12/10 to see it or to call them.

---------------
ON NO, just noticed that there may be a problem with the offering. The flyer hints that is is valid for Garner, NC only, with no written restriction for on-line purchases.. I will call with them and post the reply for this offering as it may be of interest to those near Garner.

Go for the Yamaha. Good deal. I had a Yamaha inverter generator and loved it. It had over 1200 hours before lightning claimed it. :(

I sent my note off to Cabela's to see if it can be ordered online. If yes, at that price, I will order it. All of the reviews amd comparisons (including Youtube) show so little difference between Honda and Yamaha.

I wouldn't buy anything smaller than a 2kw. My 1Kw Yamaha generator will not run an A/C unit.

It also looks interesting.

after my research the generac seems to be one of the better deals. ..it is quieter running half load then the honda with no load....also will run a 550w a/c....the reason the 1k yammy wont is not enough amps.

honda dropped the price on ther 2k after gernrac debut the new Q model...sooo yea..take your pic.

A/c looks like a kenmore from kmart for $130 will do the trick for my tiny space

NugHunter,

I think the new Generac does need more attention. We need poster inputs. But I think it will be hard to find them now.
Correction:
I am posting the correct link.
http://www.electricgeneratordepot.com/g ... -generator
They show in stock at $799

Cabela's 12/10 - 12/16 sale is on for the Yamaha 2000 at $999 plus $200 in Cabela's Bucks. So,if you are a regular Cabelas's customer, this gets the price to you at $799. I am close to hitting the "buy" button.

Hmm, are you sure its because of "amps"? I thought it was because there weren't enough squirrels:

Just saw this on WOOT. It falls in between the Honda/Yamaha and the Harbor Freight one. I know nothing about this unit personally but the price seems good for what they say it does.

Woodchucker, thanks for the link.
I like to check in to deals like this, but this disclaimer turned me right off.

"Hey! HEY! IT'S IMPORTANT YOU READ THIS! This here Inverter Generator requires fuel, so it can't be returned to Woot. Once you hit that big yellow button, it's yours. Don't say we didn't warn you. But you are still covered by the Manufacturer for warranty claims. We have enough broken crap around here, we don't need yours cluttering up the place."

I do not believe I have seen a policy statement this much in your face before. Or is it just me?

Thats just sorta how woot runs...

Good bunch of guys, but they were the ones who were notorious for selling "Bags of crap" which were much sought after and always a good time

Read the reviews on the WEN, it seems OK, but not great. For the price on woot, its cheaper than the harbor freight one, and generlaly considered better quality.

If you want it though, grab it. It wont be there tomorrow

Just placed my order for the Yamaha EF2000iS from Cabelas at $999, free shipping and $200 in "Cabelas Bucks" which can be used by 12/31 at Cabelas. Since there is $200 of camping and boating stuff I was going to order anyway, in actuality, I see it as only paying $799. The sale ends at 11:59 PM EST tonight.

Please do not bust my bubble. :shhh: :shhh:

Yes, you are technically correct.
But when the other items are ordered I will have a generator and a camping grill and an boating/fishing inflatable vest, all for $999 plus tax with tax being there for any arrangement.

These are all items that are on my purchase list anyway. So at the end of the day the prorated cost was"$799 (yes plus tax on all items). Sure it would have been better to have a rebate or discount points, but that was not about to happen right now. The best price for it on the web was $879 plus tax and the best Honda EU2000 price was $859.

I see it as a savings of $120 over the best online price found on the same unit.
