New Harbor Freight 62647 & 62671 Super Duty frames

Postby schaney » Sat Jan 16, 2016 3:25 pm

I have written a few guides on modifying the Harbor Freight 94564 4’x8’ Super Duty frames to “shrink” them for Explorer Box and some upgrade ideas. Can share links if anyone is interested. Recently that model has been replaced by a 62647 or 62671, so need to do some updates.

Has anyone purchased one of these new models yet? Trying to confirm a few things without purchasing one each myself.

The 62647 manual shows a tube axle and tongue end supports which bolt to the frame. Is this the way it comes?

The 62671 show a picture of a tongue end support welded to the frame, then the instructions show a tongue end support that bolts on. The instructions show a U-channel axle. Which way are the tongue end supports? Is it a U-Channel axle?

Thanks!

Would be great, sure pictures of the tongue end supports and axles would be helpful. Tried checking them out at my local one last week. System showed the 62647 in stock, 20 minutes later they still couldn't find them.

I have used a HF trailer before, the only problem is, if you ever need to replace the baring's, they are hard to find. These axels use a metric baring and in California, surprisingly they are hard to find. I had no problem with the U shaped axel. My personal opinion is these tiny trailer frames don't need a lot of strength, they are not very heavy, a round axel would just ad more weight. But I have decided to go with axels with standard baring's because of the ease of finding replacements. I have used a HF 4' wide trailer and made it into a 5' wide TTT. I just added side extensions and built on top. 5 foot wide is the way to go, so much more room.

The two stores here did not have them. The store in Stockton had one. They not let me open the box . let me peak in a small hole . The axle is round not c shaped. Told that the tongue end supports are the same. I could not see them. Any up dates on the Modular component? The last out fit did not work out. Wont have the parts I need tell June.

Thanks for the info. Here is a link on Replacement hubs/bearings for Harbor Freight trailers for ones with the heavier duty round tube axle.

I cannot speak to the bearing availability, but Tractor Supply has hubs, with bearings, that are perfect fits for the large HF trailer. Cost is $55

Interesting, the thread I posted also discusses swapping hubs

Go with Dexter bearings/hubs when you replace them. Common size, easily found. Explained here:
