Yosemite National Park Name Changes

Postby halfdome, Danny » Tue Jan 19, 2016 12:03 am

Someone seems to be getting greedy demanding $51,000,000  for the names of some of Yosemite's famed sites.

This should not be a big surprise today. Business has become so ugly by some companies. It's like the guy who bought the Pharmaceutical company and raised the dose price from 15 bucks to 700.00 bucks. Why, because he could. This is another example of a company exploiting something for their gain. It is really a corporate shake down of the parks department. Maybe it's time for "We the campers" that use the parks find out more about Delaware North and teach them a lesson with our dollars. If that doesn't work elect Trump! He will get the rights back and make Delaware North ,Pay for it.

Just read this. Too bad we're giving in so easily. Sets a terrible precedence. And sounds uncomfortably like blackmail... as Delaware clearly did not get a contract renewal.

Has anyone looked at the UN/Chapter 21/BLM relationship lately and considered what that does to our country?
I have only read the title and couple of paragraphs into the Google downloads I got on this topic. On the surface it makes me mad. :x

I need to find a quiet moment, read about it in more entity and see if my emotions are justified. What are we doing to our country?

Or do I delete this post as it is to political?
Bob

Not really. The company that owns the trademarks paid for them, it's appropriate that they want to get paid to release them to someone else.

Not necessarily. If they were reimbursed for costs as a contractor it would depend on the fine print in the contract.

Ahwahnee being the name of an American Native tribe, one would wonder how a New York company established by white men could be allowed to patent the name.

Maybe it's time for "We the campers" that use the parks find out more about Delaware North and teach them a lesson with our dollars. If that doesn't work elect Trump! He will get the rights back and make Delaware North ,Pay for it.

Wouldn't be surprised to learn that Trump is associated with Delaware North & that he'd change the name to Trump Empire Park.

Not familiar with trademark law, some what more so with copyright and patent, which requires that it be original. Historical use I would think would preclude some one doing this. Changing the name make any attempt to profit fro this unprofitable.

Not too happy to hear that Aramark got the contract. They are the concessioner at Kauffman stadium. They had a great deal of scrutiny on them during the World Series due to serious health code violations during the previous season. Hope they do a better job running the parks facilities.

Remember when McDonald's went to Ireland and trademarked their name? Tried to shut down all the pubs, cafes, hardwares, shoe shops, groceries, schools, haberdasheries, farms, fisheries, mechanics, etc in the country with the name McDonalds
