Ghost Towns, Canyons, Basque and Fiddles

Postby robfisher » Tue Feb 23, 2016 8:00 pm

Just an exploratory page about something I've been considering. I wonder if people would participate? Let me know what you think.

3rd week of June 2017. That may be too far out for but It's kind of a big event. I would hope for maybe 20-30 trailers.

Ghost Towns, Canyons, Basque Country and Fiddle Music. Idaho has many gems that we would like to share. Silver City is packed with history, from cowboy lore to strike it rich frontier wild times. The area around Idaho and Jordan Valley. OR has a long established Basque population. The canyons of Owyhee County are as amazing as any on the the globe. We also have the Snake River Canyon not far out of Weiser. And the National Old Time Fiddlers Contest has called Weiser its home for over 60 years.

Would anyone care to put this on their calendar for Next year, 2017? It would be sometime in the timeframe of June 16-24, probably 4-5 days.

Just to flesh out the idea a bit I'm thinking few would want to take their teardrops into Silver City or on some of the off pavement roads to see the best canyons so we would leave them parked for a couple of day trips.

Let's talk about something like this. I'm game. Are you?

I'm looking almost a year and a half out for this one. There would be a great deal of ground work to make this something special.A few factors drive the June date. That's when the Fiddle Contest takes place. It's also about the time the road to Silver opens up on most years. July can be 110 degrees in the canyons, even hotter in Hells Canyon.

I don't want to step on anything you're doing on Hells Canyon.

This sounds exactly like something Kay & would love to do, Rob ... ... and given that it's over a year away, there's actually a decent chance that we might be able to make it! Count us as among the most interested!

To me it sounds like part of the 2017 Crawl.
Would that appeal to you Rob?

Rob,

I just checked out Silver City online. I think that would be a cool trip. I would have to see if my wife would go for it.

Rob, I just found this old thread of yours. Are you still thinking about this? Very close to the date I published for Mordor 2.0. I can change my dates but the fiddle event can't.

Keep your date Randy, I'm re-thinking and decided I need to revamp my ideas into something a little different.
