Design Library - Mystery - phones disconnected...

Postby aggie79 » Mon Jun 27, 2016 5:15 pm

As many, I have been sighing over not being able to access the Design Library under Design Resources. More importantly, as many have pointed out, we are concerned about the welfare of the Design Library's creator - Andrew Gibbens (angib).

In poking around the internet, it seems that the Blueyonder PWP was part of Virgin Media Webspace. Virgin Media has closed Webspace: http://store.virginmedia.com/special-offers/webspace-is-closed.html. With the closure, all Blueyonder pages and email addresses are no longer accessible/supported.

VM is referring their former clients to GoDaddy for web hosting. If not already apparent in this post that I'm computer illiterate, apparently, from other snippets gleaned from the web, the Blueyonder webpage design is not supported by GoDaddy or other web hosts. Anyone with a former Blueyonder account, would have to find a new provider and rebuild their website (and with data that hopefully was not stored on Blueyonder.)

Hopefully Andrew is alive and doing well, and that at some time in the future he will create a new Design Library for us to enjoy.

Thank you, Tom. At least, that gives us a clue that maybe Andrew is not sick and may not be upset with us; or, probably not any other bad thoughts that we might have been thinking. :phew:

That's some good news. But I sure wish he would email someone!

If there is need for space -- I have a mostly unused account/hosting site that is available. I am capable of bringing up a site -- but a bit busy.

PM me for the particulars.

Looks like Blueyonder closing includes all of their email addresses. :(

Well tried calling Angib today. Both his home number and his work number were disconnected...

Yesterday, I posted this to the administrators at the 'Teardrop Club of Great Britian' (tcgb.org.uk).
Andrew is a member and has posted the design library there also:

Hello,
I'm from Oregon USA and I joined your group hoping to find some information
on a member.
Andrew Gibbens (angib) is a member here and on a popular teardrop forum in
the states called TnTTT.com
Andrew has provided the wonderful Design Library which has helped many
people in designing and building their own teardrop.
He seems to have gone missing; his phones seem to be disconnected and his
BlueYonder website has been taken down and it appears that he last posted
sometime in March 2016 both here and in the states.
There are many who are concerned about him. If you have any information
concerning Andrew, could you please reply.
Thank you
Richard Clarke
Oregon USA

Got this reply this morning:

Hi Richard

I have been asking the same question.

As you say, he just seemed to disappear. I have no idea what happened.

Sorry I can't be of any help

Regards

Nige

[edit: never mind, I found all that in the design resources]

Hi, I've been lurking here for a while, this is my first post...

I just wanted to mention that I was looking for the website in question after having seen it referenced a number of times. In fact I found this post searching for Andrew Gibbons, trying to find a live link. Then it occured to me to try the Way Back Machine, and presto, there it was... and here it is:
