Both abput the same price but the Trojan appears t have 4x the capacity and both are AGM...??? I would like to run a small fan all night as necessary and the usual other stuff such as led lighting, a radio etc.

You should figure out your consumption before you buy any supply.

Add up the wattage of all your loads, including things like phone chargers, etc. Convert that to Amps, multiply by how long you're going to use them to get Amp Hours then you can determine how much battery you need.

thanks. I guess my real question is why does one battery with 4x the amp hours cost almost the same as odyssey? (which I know odyssey is an excellent quality battery but 4x more per amp hour?)

Because the Odyssey is about 4x the quality of the Trojan... And the Trojan is about 4 X the size of (LxWxH & weight & capacity) of Odyssey so be sure it will also "fit" for you application...

I have Odyssey battery in my Jeep because of high amperage loads when using electric winch, and it was the best quality/performance battery I could get that would fit in my standard battery mount for my Jeep... Cheap price means very little when you are 15 miles into nowhere and you are alone and need to winch and if battery fails you are "stuck"... Its the only battery I have ever seen that comes with owners manual and probably has better warranty than the TROJAN... Two years now and still very happy with Odyssey...

Go to Odyssey web side and read up on the battery, then go to Trojan site..

And Optima batteries are not nearly as good as Odyssey and quality has been poor ever since Optima has moved their manufacturing to Mexico....
