I too tow with a 2006 Miata. By actual count, according to Google maps, I've towed a Little Guy Joey 28K+ miles over the last 6 years. I too use the Curt hitch; no doubt it is the best. Occasionally the hitch question come up on the Miata forum and I always say if you plan on using it for anything besides carrying bicycles, get a Curt. I average 22-24 mpg. Do you also find the irony in using a huge machine (ie: large SUV or pickup) to tow what is by definition a tiny travel trailer?Kayaker1971 wrote:I tow with a 2006 Miata. Just got back from a 2850+ mile trip, averaged 21MPG. There are two types of hitches, one attaches between the bumper and unibody, and the Curt attaches deep onto the frame rails, I have the Curt its very heavy duty. Teardrop weights 850empty including spare tire and a big battery. If I had made an alum trailer frame, it would be 100lbs lighter.
