7x16 continental V nose

Postby mrwall1 » Mon Jan 16, 2017 7:51 pm

Time to start a new chapter!! We sold our modified teardrop trailer back in August.... just getting to old to go all night without a potty get up! lol... Finally put a deposit down on a Continental 7x16 V nose.... they said it would take 4 weeks... it will be a long 4 weeks... we have the floor plan down that we want.... so ready to run when we get it... I have read so many posts and there are so many good ideas!!! but I am sure I will have some questions... our biggest dilemma is the bed... the wife wants it to be able to move up and down... I was fine with it being higher up! so we can haul Motorcycle etc. without moving up and down... I thought about a murphy style bed... but we want a king size mattress. so not enough room unless we split it in half... and I am sure there would be a lot of comfort lost!!! So seeing the pulley systems others are building is great!!

I have a 7x16 and I have a murphy twin size bed, I am by myself with a dog so that's all I need but it is a effort to let down the bed and then pull down the mattress then put on the sheets on so I leave it down, I could put it up and down each day if I needed the room but I always leave it down.
I did some what splurge on the bed with a nice topper and plenty of large pillows, my sheets I sewed the top sheet to the bottom so they stay together I have a few sets of sheets so I can change them as needed I have a dog that loves water and they may need to be changed every day ?
I know how hard it is to deal with a twin bed, maybe a queen bed would work better in a 7x16 ?

thanks for the imput!
According to mattress sizes... a regular king will fit lengthwise.... but I wont buy a mattress til I get the trailer and measure the actual trailer I get...to make sure... if not a queen will do!

7x16 continental V nose

Postby Padilen » Tue Jan 17, 2017 9:21 pm

I have a double loft/lift mounted with tracks. Mounted head/foot of bed to trailer sides. It's 7' wide trailer which is the exterior measurement. My double -54x74+tracks just fits. A double is shorter @74, while a king and queen are @80. I just made a loft/lift bed for friends. 6' wide CTC, queen bed @ 60"x80. It runs length wise, with only a little side clearance.
Just looked up kings. 76x80 and California kings are 72-84.

Well My Trailer arrived at the lot the other day, It had been a little over 4 weeks, I called to find out the status, And they said... oh we were just talking about you.... your trailer is in... but.... there is a small scratch on the front panel... but you can barley see it... the delivery driver must of did it unloading the trailer... so we ordered a new panel... but come on down and see if it is something that bothers you... So I went down there yesterday... and it is not a barley noticeable scratch! lol yes it is only about 2" long, but I noticed it right away!! and there was no offer to reduce the price.. then he asked if I want to take it... and when the panel comes in if I want I can replace it... or bring it back... hmmm the guy seems pretty up and up... but once I get it home I am going to start tearing the inside apart... so wouldn't be able to get it back for a while... and as far as me replacing... nah.... would have to remove the diamond plate on the V nose, and the lower diamond plate... So I said give me a call when it is ready and I will bring the check!!!! but otherwise the trailer looks great!! I will post some pics shortly!!

Hey mrwall1,
NICE TRAILER!!! It looks a lot bigger than 7x16, It must be 7'-7.5' tall? The added height is definitely worthwhile, IMHO.
What a great platform to begin a build with. Looks like you have a couple helpers, too.
Enjoy the process and enjoy the good times surely to come while camping etc.
Congratulations.

Thanks McDave! for some reason the 16' are only 5'10 so we ordered another foot, so it is 6'10... They are looking forward to it, when we had the teardrop and the grandkids went with us, they would have to sleep in the pickup bed with canopy... now we will put a removable bed above our fold down bed there in the back

Trailer is home!!! Wow it towed like a dream!! I didn't even notice it behind me... I was surprised, Forest River states in their Brochure that their 16 x 7 is only 5'11 on the inside, so I ordered an extra foot in height... But when I got it home and measured, it is 7'6... oh well a little more overhead storage!!!

I pulled over on the way home to get a couple pics!

And now here it is backed up to the Garage, ready to start!!
