There is a really good use for these though, dehumidifier. Run of few of them in parallel (with regulated current), big heat sink for the heat they generate, smaller on the inlet side so they get nice and cold. Small amount of air flow over them to circulate the air.

I knew the basics of these before this thread started but this thread had me digging up more.

Since our main need will be dehumidifying this might work for us. Be alot lighter and smaller than a big AC unit and should be able to keep the power consumption well below that of a AC unit.

TEC units are actually really common for small dehumidifiers so I'll see what I come up with.

I know that running one of the coolers/warmers that use thiese will drain my battery within a day. Unless you have a lot of batteries, or are plugged into AC, I don't see this being an option.

I'll have shore power 99% of the time. Only ever less than $5 more a night for electric and we won't be camping for weeks. Weekend/extended weekends.

I'll also have solar cell(s) so even without shore power I'll be ok for a weekend. In the end it will be 1-2 interior LED lights, 1 exterior, usb charging and vent fans. Possibly a tiny pump for a sink (getting conned into a basic galley)

I'll have way more power capacity than we will use.

But definitely make a note if I decided to make a small dehumidifier that I need to have access to shore power or a bigger battery set up.

I'll build my own versus dealing with that, I've learned about buying anything THAT cheap off eBay. Cheap Chinese direct of eBay means it will work like crap compared to actual spec.

A 6000 btu AC unit pulls about 600 watts average.

To be effective that TEC would need to be damn big lol. Already talking a 10amp draw on that small unit ( which the 4 fans draw little of).

Fun project, be good to use to make a "fridge" or something to blow cool air on you (mount it blowing down on your head whole your sleeping).

My 8000BTU window shaker is a high efficiency model, pulls 5.9A or 678.5 watts.
