Thanks. That is very good to do on a large display (laptop size), but unfortunately does nothing for the problem on a small screen tablet where the print is so small as to be undecipherable without having to mess around. An 8 megapixel image is simply too large for most forum viewing.

No it doesn't Don. You have to do it yourself. Like I said, laziness plays a big part here.

Sorry, I misinterpreted what you said.

I manage a forum on different software and we have a maximum one side dimension of 900 pixels. The system downsizes any uploads. But if someone posts an image from a photo host using the [img] tags, then the resize fails.

It would be great if everyone who posted images realized that large pixel size images are a problem, as well large file sizes using a lot of bandwidth that someone has to pay for.
