Cargo door screen

Postby tandempair » Sat Jul 01, 2017 7:02 pm

Pretty sure this has been addressed before, but a search did not bring up the answers to my question. How do you screen the cargo door opening? I had a magnetic screen that I bought for another purpose, but hadn't used yet. I measured today and it will be too small, and I don't think the mesh is fine enough to keep out gnats and other no see'um bugs. What have others used and how and where do you attach it to the trailer? Ous is an all aluminum, 6X12 with a 7 ft roof. We may be traveling/living in this TC for 4 months or longer, once our home sells, it would be nice to have a covering to keep bugs out, yet still get a nice breeze through. We want to make it as simple and practical as possible. Thanks.

I recall seeing sometime back, a CT with dual doors behind the ramp or barn doors. You lower the ramp or open the barn doors and there are the screen doors.

I'm going to order this for my cargo door screen when they are back in stock. Looks promising, and not very expensive:

Thanks for that link V_T. I've been trying to come up with something for the 2 side doors on my 5x12 and given its small interior space, I've been looking to do something as low profile and compact as possible. Considered just some rolled up screen with velcro on the sides. Surface mount that unit on the inside above the door and it's out of the way.

A builder in here used a regular roller shade, removed the fabric and attached fiberglass screening with staples. Velcro on the door and attach when in use. An inexpensive experiment.

I like this idea, I wonder if it comes in a 72 inch width. Guess I will do some checking.

I read the installation instructions. They are modifiable width and height wise so the 73 should work for 72". That's what I was planning to do. Dont know when they will be in stock though.

ebay and amazon both have giant screen doors with the magnets that clasp them shut... specifically for cargo doors

kinda like this guy: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Toy-Hauler-Rear ... 7g&vxp=mtr

but shop around, there are much cheaper alternatives

Look for magnetic screens for garage doors. They are plenty big and CHEAP. If you have access to a sewing machine they are easy to modify to size. Just bought a regular one for my side door, my wife is going to bring it down to size.

I used a slide to close from HD and had to modify the bottom and used an iron on tape to finish the bottom

On my rear ramp area I located a clear plastic device such as as garages and warehouses use to keep heat out or in looks like a vertical window blind but heavier each vertical strip is about 8" wide, easily moved aside with elbow when carrying things in both hands to the lowered ramp such as bottle of nice wine and couple o glasses The ramp has no extendable roll up shade, stead neighbor gave me a great looking 6' umbrella which I lower into a modified stand using 1 1/2 dia plastic pipe screwed into a base, when the door is closed the device doesn't present any probs .a couple of plants and I'm ready to receive guests
