Thanksgiving camping Canadian style

Postby Greg M » Fri Oct 06, 2017 10:13 pm

I had nothing planned for Thanksgiving; the usual suspects are all out of town for the long weekend, and I was getting the itch, so off to a local campground I went.
I forgot how much I love camping in the fall. The edge in the air adds to the campfire and the rain on the roof makes you feel so snug.
Hope you’re all enjoying yourselves as much as I am.

the oldsters have all passed on and our Thanksgiving campouts are no more

your post brings back some fond rememberies of Turkey Day weekends of the past

a group of my parent's friends would gaggle up somewhere for a long weekend of campfire, camaraderie & gluttony

the group that assembled for Turkey Dinner ranged from 50 - 75 in numbers and from just months to up in their 90's in age

the usual sawhorse tables required an extra sawhorse under the middle just to support all the food that was offered up for Turkey Day

AND THE SUN ALWAYS SHINED ON THE TURKEY(at least for a moment on that day)

turkey bone soup was made in a HUGE Army pot on Fridays and was laddled out over the planned over(knot left over) excess dressing

over the years(mid 1950's>>>) sleeping quarters ranged from pup tents, t-pees, tears, dome tents, family/multi room tents, 1-wheeled fold outs, home made tent trlrs, pick-up toppers, station wagons, pop-ups, converted school bus, class A's, B's & C's.....

MANY FOND REMEMBERIES

Thanks for the post

Why not post a link to some information, or is it secret?

We need to get you on one of the Tear Jerker Rosters.
The notice of PNW Tear Jerkers events goes out monthly to over 200 members (125 trailers) at the push of a button.
Some information is usually posted here or on the Tear Jerkers Forum (but it is slow!)
Tried Facebook as the folks out in Alberta seem to like it. But it is too awkward, and has no real record........it is a chat line.
WE had some great events this year in and around the PNW.

Nothing posted yet!
AsI have been too busy lately, and not all plans are finalized but have been communicating directly with PNW TJ members who are planning to attend.
Is it snowing in Calgary yet?
We are still picking fruit here in the Okanagan. 8)

it tried snowing a few days ago but not yet. Weather has rebounded again and out hiking this past weekend. Looks like all week will be great. There is some snow at higher elevations.

Do you have any experience with high temperature paints? Actually, I should start another post about that.
