Trailer frame beams 2' on center- using 5/8 ply as floor-

Postby kevindford » Tue Jan 16, 2018 2:37 pm

Using the Northern Tool 5x8 aluminum non-folding trailer, the beams are 24" on-center. I'm not building a frame on top of the trailer frame. Using 5/8s ply for the floor/deck, will that be sufficient to avoid significant flex? This is a grumman design, not a standy, so weight will be distributed over butts and legs and bodies, etc.

Thank you-

I'd say close but probably fine. Span tables call for 3/4" for 24" span, and that 5/8" is maxed at 20". If no seams - just 8' - do it.

Thanks for the knowledge. They were out of the 5/8", so 3/4" it is.
