I question the advisability of cooking inside.
Do you have enough ventilation?

no cooking inside, no heater inside (see my original goals, no combustibles inside)
have to be a bit patient on pics of the up front outside kitchen, that's not started yet.

Here's a quick pbrush mockup though so you can see where the range lives. (36" locking drawer slides in tongue box)

If a small scale test looks good, step up and do a larger scale test; sometimes results change with scale.

Noted, and agree -- testing will surely happen.
Also, I am building a bit heavy, no need for resin/composite strength. All the fabric/topcoat for is water/ UV protection.
My walls are 5/4" thick solid, and the roof will be curved wood.

I'm actually considering 1/2" conduit spars for strength and the fact that they will never warp or bow.
I'm going to try some 7/16" dowels in the ends, and then mechanical fasteners.
Not sure if that will work well or not, but I'm going to give it a try and do testing (like on the fabric) before committing.

thanks for the thoughts -- appreciate.

ok, so I just got my "off grid 12v edison style LED e27 base bulbs from china"

These things are WAY cool...
$5 fixture from homedepot, and $3 bulb from china, 4 watts....

what a deal

I have one on, and the other off, cause pictures don't show the fixture real well.

Have you considered using epoxy and carbon fiber cloth for skinning the exterior? uscomposites.com has good prices for carbon fiber fabric (and fiberglass cloth). It's strong, very light weight, greatly helps with water proofing, makes it easier to build custom shapes and sizes, and is cost competitive with aluminum skins and trim.

not really, I've only really considered paint/fabric or epoxy/fabric - my big thing is I don't want to see seams.
I need to wait for warmer weather for either of them, so I'm concentrating on building (in a heated garage !!) structure at the moment.

Hazard noted - I'll try to restrict myself to just those things I can accomplish today (too much dreaming is hazardous !!)

Case in point, $9 lauan plywood, curved without a pop, break or issue.... although it took a couple days to gently coax it into this nice bend....
sometimes patience pays off.

Thought the aluminum door edging turned out good. I didn't think I could make aluminum angle curve smoothly/cleanly enough.

now onto the door window and the gasket/jams.

Yea, this isn't a project that can delay... My son's maiden voyage in this is planned for a couple days wilderness first aid in bailey colorado, and then a week of exploring...
WFA in bailey is a week after spring semester is out -- so it's gotta get done by then.

My son LOVES the old shasta windows... these are 2015 reissues -- I still kinda expect them to leak.

Locking Screen door latch will provide strong latching, considering I made solid spruce doors.

ok, so these things are cool. I used them for my bed/lounger -- but I can see someone using these for a bunch of other uses, even for holding a hatch open.

jbell,
On a hatch possibly, They could keep it open, what is the closed length and the open length?
Would still need something to keep the wind from raising the hatch and damaging it. Which has been a problem with some hatch braces.
Who is the supplier for these?
Stay safe, David

These look like they might work good on a hatch. Do you have a brand or a web site. Thanks

well it was interesting finding these...

First I found this.
http://gzchanho.en.alibaba.com/product/ ... C27_3.html

but eventually I found them on amazon, and found they were by uxcell.
From memory they are about 9.5" closed, and 15.5" open
