Ok, I will put some side trips together then. Thanks, George.

Save room for some newbies! Crater's has been on my list for awhile but I really have no idea what's there (or near). I'm a little slow hiking since i always carry too much camera gear but I'm (slowly) getting braver with the truck offroad. Of course if nobody wants me tagging along I'll hang out next to my half finished teardrop drinking beer all day and be in a great mood when you return to camp :D

You see will things on this trip that few people see. This is not the packaged little drive at the north end of the Monument. Which is good but over crowded. And not like the road over the Wall of Death as I call it. You can hike up to Pillar Butte. Some great photo opps there. I might try to get into the Wood Road area again.

Looking forward to meeting up thursday! I'll probably leave wednesday and hit a restop that night so i'm not arriving super late thursday night (12+ hour drive). I just noticed my "america the beautiful" pass is expired, do I need to check in anywhere to get this renewed in case of ranger checks or is this free public access?

I am still scrambling to try and get things done here for the trip. My Jeep is still all torn apart and I have not even started on the trailer modifications yet. Going to be a busy day today, just like yesterday. I have confidence I will get it done though.

The areas we are going to be in is free public access so no worries there.

Still up in the air on if I'll have my tear travel worthy next weekend. I probably won't arrive until Friday morning or evening. Have some serious work deadlines this month.

Just had a look at the weather forecast for the area.

Highs in the 70's with some clouds and in the 40's at night.

Should be a great camp out.... 8) :D

Yes, Weather is looking good. Expect mucho mucho dusty roads. Grass is very dry this year. I might be there on the 12th. Unless I go to an estate sale on the 13th. I knew the guy a little and he has some great shop/guy stuff. And I am now setting up my new shop. :D

I'm jealous of y'all getting to make this trip. It sounds like a great time.

At least I will be camping this coming weekend.

Just looked at the weather for the next few days. Looks like it will be moderate temps and a very slight chance of rain Thursday. As dry as it is out there I think we better not count on any camp fires. Unless it is raining at the time. I may not have room for fire wood as I have down sized my TV.

See you in Mordor

Been a uphill battle for the last two weeks getting ready for this trip. Everything seems to be coming together though. Hope to see you guys sometime Thursday.

What time are people getting there on Thursday? Is Chrystal Ice cave the correct place?

The sale of our farm is coming together an I will have papers to sign. When they get here. Might be tomorrow so I will be there thursday. Even if papers are late. We been waiting on the buyers to get their sh** together for about 6 months. They can wait a few days.

I will try to get there early Thursday afternoon.

Crystal Ice Caves is the place.

From the highway between American Falls an Aberdeen. west on North Pleasant Valley Road. About 8 miles later there is a stop sign. Got about 2 miles and turn north on Winters Road. Road is good until you cross the cattle guard. Then it will be rough and dusty. After some time you will see some trees. Aim for those. LOL.

This might be a meeting of Subarus.
