I saw Hanks previous post about your new stove and the fan and it reminded me I was once obsessed all things Stirling and how close I came to breaking the stranglehold of the power companies and big oil on my wallet but never found the solution besides having my own oil/gas well in the yard. So far that hasn't panned out, we'll see.. still , I love the Stirlings for their looks and possibilities. They don't come cheap though.

Stirling, like Eco-fan are proud of their products! I have this little guy and it works great. I have used it on the wall tent stove in the wall tent and it moves air around. I will use it in the CT.

6x10 Cargo Mate Challenger

Postby dirtsailor2003 » Mon Jan 07, 2019 8:19 pm

Bolted down the wood stove This afternoon. Marked the roof for the hole for the stove pipe. Will need to wait to make that hole. Snow on the roof and more coming...

Image

Did some of the 12v wiring. I will wrap up the panel tomorrow and pull the wiring for the lights I have.

Weather is supposed to be nice and sunny the next couple days so I might get the hole drilled for the stove pipe!

Wood stove is installed! We’ll fire it up tomorrow. Need to let the High temp RTV cure.

Still need to put in the heat shield, not to worried fornthe initial burn. Have a plan for the heat shield and will get it installed this weekend hopefully. Then I need to clean the mess up and go camping!

Fired up the Cubic Cub. Initially I had the ramp door, side door and little window open as I knew that the paint on the stove needed to be set. I probably should have done that outside the trailer, but didn't. If I was to do it again I would definitely fire it up outside first, especially if installing in a cabin or house. During this time it was 32°f-34°f. Even with all the doors open the heat felt nice to about 2' out from the stove. I let the stove burn for over a hour with all the door open and two box fans pulling air and paint fumes out. Once that subsided I let the stove burn for another hour with the doors closed. By this time the outside temp dropped to 30°f. Not sure what the interior temp was inside the trailer (need to get a therm) but it was nice and toasty. Not bad considering that I don't have insulation in the roof or most of the walls yet. Satisfied I let the fire burn down on its own.

Chopping fire wood

I split each of those 2x4 chunks in half. Makes the perfect size.

Unfortunately some of the wood got to close to the glass and I ended up fouling the glass up. I'll clean it and have to remember to keep the wood more to the back.

Put the fan on top. It pushes the air around nicely in the trailer.

Been too busy to work on the trailer! But I did have a chance to make some smoker fried chicken!

Installed most of the ceiling insulation. While doing that I had the wood stove cranking out heat. Man that little stove does a great job heating the space. It will be interesting seeing how long it will burn once dampened down. I plan on trying out bio logs too. Many seem to get longer burn times using them.

dirtswabby, Howdy;

looks like you're keepin' score of busted Iron skillets,
like the pilots from war times kept a flag for each enemy
they shot down ... only I'd use a smaller replica they can
and do accumulate faster then ya think they would. ;)

Believe it or not I've only broke one CI skillet. So for now that big pan takes care of it!

Picture sucks, but these are great lights.
