Talking to my wife yesterday and she reminded me that we made reservations in Colorado for that weekend way back in January.
Guess I will have to miss this trip. Really wanted to explore the old rail beds. Bummer
Guess it will stay on my bucket list.

The first day of the reenactment is on Friday the 10th which is the 150th anniversary day. They will still have the engines out on the 11th.

First I said we would meet in Snowville on the 10th and set up camp at Locomotive Springs. Go to the Headquarters on the 11th and then head out after. Would make a long day of it on Sunday to get to the end. Of course anyone could camp Sunday night or jump off the rail bed and head home early if they wish. Lots of roads out there just aim for the highway.

Then I got the bright ( late ) idea to start a day earlier.

Trouble with being retired. Easy for me to change many plans. Makes it hard for those who work to fallow.

It is about a 90 mile total drive. We could make 20-40 after getting back from the reenactment so it might be do able

Wolffarmer wrote:Or how about yet another change in plans? Meet in Snowville afternoon of the 9. Set up camp around Locomotive Springs and those that want to see the big shindig on the 10th can go and spend some quality time there. Then we can head out for a few hours Friday if you get back in time or leave Saturday morning and have 2 full days to do it. Should be able to drive it all and do some looking around.

 I like this idea, since it was sorta what I was planning. I'll see you in Snowville on the 9th. Or whatever the plan turns out to be.
I'll burn that bridge when I come to it.

Okay meet you in Snowville on the 9th. About 2 pm to give people coming from Western Idaho a bit more time to get there.

Meet at the Sinclair Gas station. In Snowville there are 2 stations right next to each other. The Sinclair is the smaller one on the north.

Someone will need to get tickets for their vehicle to the party, maybe two vehicles. I will stay at camp and watch over things ( when I am not sleeping ) And riders reimburse the drivers for tickets and gas.

If someone can't make it on friday but think they can get there by mid friday and miss the engines, we can do that. I expect to take the road from Snowville to the rail bed. Usually easy to spot and turn west a bit for camp. Should not be to hard to see. Might have cell phone out there, might. I have never been there and checked.

How does that sound?

Great George. Can still do a lot of the rail bed with 2 wheel drive. And unless it is wet from where I plan to camp and the head quarters is not bad.

Do not forget flowers

 Since you mentioned it twice, it must be kinda important. Why / what for the flowers?

I'll get a vehicle pass.

And I will probably forget. There was once a city out there. Where there are cities there are cemeteries.

Well, City is stretching the size. There was a round house there. Look on Google earth at Terrace Utah and you can see it.

EDIT

That don't work takes you to Washington Terrace. stupid google
