Tony, that may not be a NEC rule. The NEC is a set of minimal national standards put together by the NFPA. There can also be regional, and even municipal standards tacked on over and above the NEC.
I'll admit that it's been awhile since I consulted an NEC book, but my statement above might be the case.
Personally, I don't understand a puny 30 amp disconnect, unless you're running minimal loads in that garage.

Apparent goofyness can raise its head at times.... the inspector each have the final word. If they interpret a rule in one way but you interpret in another there can be an impasse. I have run into that and appealed to the superiors and won because I was correct. It doesn't happen often. It sometimes pays to read and understand the rules. That also applies to general construction.

I thought I had a deal at $170 for this flexible 100-watt Renogy ETFE panel. This is a ridiculous price right now at $135.

https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Extremely-Flexible-Monocrystalline-Renewed/dp/B07W7TQL2B/ref=sr_1_13?keywords=renogy+flexible&qid=1570643437&s=digital-text&sr=8-13

Renogy has the same 5/25 year guarantee for them as their glass panels.

At $1.75 a watt it's a deal, yet $1.35.. Ya baby! I bought solar in the early days at close to $4 a watt for a hard fixed panel and thought that was a deal! I bought my 130w fixed panel at $.78 a watt a it's a bear to store that I use now.

I'm seeing 90 days Amazon "renewed" warranty and the listing mentions contacting the manufacturer for warranty. Anyone confirmed with Renogy the 5/25 year thing?
Amazon states:
"Please contact the seller directly for warranty information for this product. You may also be able to find warranty information on the manufacturer’s website."

Couldn't find Renogy site coverage on a "Renewed" panel. Interesting though, even at 90 days...

Yes, Amazon says they will warrant the "pre owned" panels 90 days, don't know about the renogy warranty on them. However, here is a link to what I was talking about....for less than $3 more, new, not "renewed" - https://www.amazon.com/Renogy-Extremely ... D74J5FTJX6 . Gee, what a link, wonder if it works? Just saying, there are new panels on Amazon for basically the same price, looks like THAT is a real good deal at this time! The warranty link gives what looks like the Renogy warranty for new panels, rather than a "contact manufacturer" blurb like the "renewed" panels. I am not at all trying to throw shade at Mr. Tony! (or anyone else, TimC !) I just found these other panels on the "compare with similar items" line.

Why buy renewed when they are linking to new for less than $3 more? I need to buy some of them, question is, how many!! Later.. Nodrog

So....Talking to wife about some of the panels...I need to look at how Mr. Latham mounted them...the pics look like maybe a few screws? I am thinking on this, cause they are so light, don't want them to blow off on the road. Also thinking about mounting them on roof of trailer, but making the mount so they can be moved, in case we are parked in shade...Also a charge controller for a couple of panels...Pretty excited by this, these look like such a good thing! Both in terms of charge controller and the panels themselves, there are so many options than in the 90's when I had a solar array, stuff was pretty high priced then. later....Nodrog

They come with six grommets. Three per side. I added another grommet at the front, where the wind could catch the lip. So yes, it is attached with seven screws.

I had the advantage of planning for this panel prior to sheathing the roof.

If you don't feel like screws in a roof. Double sided VHB tape works just fine on those light weight panels. I had these panels on my truck camper.

I ran the VHB tape around the outer edge and one strip down the center long ways.

I paid $425 for an 80 watt solar panel on my first teardrop about 12 years ago - $5.31/watt. I shopped a long time and got a good deal too. :(

Tony thanks for adding that about the Maxair. It is a huge difference. I am so pleased with the Maxair fan. A few weeks ago I had the fan full open and we had one of our monsoon rain storms, 3” in a few hours with 40 mph winds and 0 water inside. Last week in Colorado we had nights as low at 20 degrees. I would just barely open the fan and have it blowing into the cabin on fan setting 2 or 3. It would push the warm air at the ceiling down and still draw in a small amount of fresh air. Worked out great and no condensation on the windows.

For me a 35 AH is cutting it close, I would go to a 70-80 AH to be on the safe side.

One thing with the flexible panels, I was talking to a guy a few weeks ago who had two mounted on his RV roof and had nothing but problems. Ends up they can’t handle the heat we have here in AZ in the summer. He said Renogy replaced them once already and he is having problems again. Renogy said he would be better going to a glass panel and mount with an air space.
