Schrader valve on a white gas stove

Postby saywhatthat » Fri Jun 05, 2020 12:24 pm

As white gas burns better at higher altitude. I have a few 3 burner white gas stoves. But all that pumping. Is there any reason not to install a Schrader valve ? Just one pump from a hand pump .you be done .Also can use un lead fuel

Care should be taken so as to not over pressurize the stove.
White gas burns cleaner but unleaded can be used in most stoves. But unleaded gas has a variety of additives that are best not combined with food by cooking with unleaded gas.

Saywhat; I might suggest you outfit your stove with a low pressure gauge first, to see what pressures are achieved with the factory hand pump, when the burners are operating as they should. This way, you'll have a baseline pressure, rather than guessing what pressure to stop at with a larger volume hand pump.

I applaud the idea for improvement, but really must insist you approach with caution. You are, after all, messing with a pressurized container of flammables, and there's already a source of ignition at hand if it ruptures.

Just my 2-pence.....Roger

I grew up somewhat off-grid. One of my jobs was to fill the lanterns and stove each morning. I guess I was traumatized, so I'll stick to propane. :?

Snap the piezo and you're cooking with gas.

:applause:

But I'll still camp next to you green-stove fellas.
