Prismatic LiFePo4 Leaking

Postby flboy » Tue Dec 14, 2021 9:18 am

I have a 280aH LiFePo4 battery pack I built last April. I top balanced well and I am using a Daly Bluetooth BMS so I can monitor individual cells. I noticed Cell #1 drifting off from the others. I pulled out the battery pack and as I opened it up, it has an odor kind of like a sweet/detergent smell. Well, it appears to be leaking electrolyte from the bottom as the top seal is in tact. Apparently some sort of premature failure? I emailed the company I bought them from as I believe they are in a warranty period. We'll see how they handle it. BMS is working so no limits were violated on the batteries.

Has anyone else experienced this?

That’s not good! Hopefully they send you a replacement. As someone with prismatic cells in my own trailer, I’m interested in how this turns out.
