Whats the latest on bigger wheels/tires on a HF Trailer?

Whats the latest on bigger wheels/tires on a HF Trailer? Has anyone put on larger wheel/tire combos on their HF? If so what sizes have you gone with? What is the largest? What offset is needed on the wheels? What are the limitations? What is the bolt patern?

:(

I was planning to use an extra set of Ford 15" truck rims but a clearance problem. Spacer for the bolt pattern ( 1 1/2" or 2" spacer ) localy are $75 each. A new axel would be $119. If you read the forum there is a cut and re-weld an axel of a HF to widen the trailer.

 $> $> $>

I think I will get an axel later on if I need it. I have a six bolt truck and a five bolt truck/4x4 and car. ???? I just got an extra 13" spare tire for the trailer.

Pat

That's a good question, since looking at mine today, the wheels are so tiny...

I think the place to start is to find out what the bolt circle is...

Mike the bolt pattern is an exact fit of my "85 F-150 - 15" rims; just clearance to rim to frame is the problem need just over an inch space just to clear the trailer frame. The 15" rims from my '91 Rocky also fit ( same clearance problem ) and my 14" - '97 Neon fit ( same clearance problem ). Just the '04 Frontier is six bolt pattern is the odd duck.
That Is on the HF 1850# 4' x 8' trailer w/ five bolt pattern ( sorry about that to clarify ).

I tried a fifteen inch "donut" from a Ford Escort but the hole in the middle is too small to allow the grease hub to go through. Otherwise, I think it might have worked.

You may wanna PM Len.

He's been busy with his Shasta build...

I believe his Slumbercoach is riding on 15" Ford rims on a HF frame.

I know he did axle/hub work to get it done?

Cheers,

Coop

arent the 5 bolt pattern wheels 5 x 4-1/2" ?
if so then many trailer wheels will match up to that bolt pattern.
Its the clearance issue thats a problem isnt it?

But I think Len likes to buy the HF trailer, to get whatever he needs to overcome PA registration hurdles, and then fit a new axle to it, so I don't think those wheels are on a HF axle.
