An exciting stop on our Labor Day Trip-The Lodge Factory!!

Postby stbuch » Mon Sep 04, 2006 8:54 pm

Our Labor Day trip took us through the lovely South Pittsburg, TN-the home of Lodge Cast Iron!!

We went to the factory outlet store and I got a super great 8-inch dutch oven for 23 bucks!

Just the right size for that cobbler for two!

Sherrie :)

Now I will look forward to your "DO" pictures
as well as your wonderful camping pictures.
Recipes will come forth and you will show
proud, for sure Sherrie.

You enjoy it so ... and it shows :applause:

is good enough to be given a square deal afterwards." -------Theodore Roosevelt

Can't wait

Can't wait to try out the "little" DO. I love the 12" and use it all the time. On our camping trip this weekend I made a lovely beef roast on Saturday and Cornish hens on Sunday. My husband says he may never grill on a camping trip again!

You'll need to put sides on your original frame to haul all that iron back. :?

Sherrie, Judy and I were down at the Lodge outlet store last week and we bought a 12 inch DO and an 8 inch, we are ready to give them a try.

Asianflava, they do not have a tour of the factory that I know of but they will play a video of their operation and it is really neat to see. If you ever get up this way give us a shout, we would love to meet you.

Critter, Lodge is in South Pittsburg, Tennessee, about 25 minutes from our house here in Chattanooga. From what I understand, they only have one tour a year and that is in April during the "Cornbread Festival". There are several campgrounds close to the Lodge store and mfg plant. Judy and I love to camp at Shellmound campgrounds, it is beautiful there right on the Tennessee River. If you get over this way, give us a holler and maybe we can get together.

There are several Lodge Factory outlets. There is one in Sevierville, near Dollywood and another in Georgia somewhere North of Atlanta, and the one in S Pittsburg. We were going to stop at the one in S Pittsburg but we were running short on time. My brother was staying up waiting for us, and we were already running late. Not only did I forget about the time change, but we ran into traffic in Nashville so it took us 2 hours to get thru the city.
