I got my first d.o.this morning at a yard sale it's cajun classic never heard of them wondering if any body here knows anything about them?

IT is 4.5 qt with the legs and a top

Mike, I haven't heard of that brand before so I can't really comment on them. However, I did find a few related links from running a google search.

Thats it never been cooked in its not one of the really high dollar ones but I only gave 7 dollars for it thanks for the help

Hey Mike,

I like to DO cook and have a bit of iron around the house. Here's my take on it. Within bounds of reason, any DO will work just fine. Sure, some might not be quite as good of quality but they will all cook a great meal for you. If it needs it, clean it up and get it seasoned. Pick out an easy recipe and try her out. You have plenty of time to buy name brand ovens if you catch the cast iron bug. It's not about the name on the lid but the food inside.

Don't know about the "Cajun" part but I've got a "Classic" chicken fryer that after seventeen years of use is as smooth as a baby's bottom. My method for care and feeding: NEVER wash with soap, rinse with HOT water then scour with salt and scothbrite, warm on a hot burner til dry, then wipe with oil while still hot, cool and store.

A good deal is more of a formula, basically the less you pay for the better the quality per dollar spent. That being said seven buck divided by 4.5 quarts multiplied by the name Cajun plus it being your first = $30 new lodge. GOOD DEAL!
