I'll definitely agree with you there. Fords, OTOH, are IMHO
better than many of their ancestors. "Fix Or Repair Daily" used to be the catch phrase and my dad's '53 Country Squire woody was pretty typical of that - looked really good (wish I had it now!) but lots of engine problems. But I became permanently sold on Fords when we gave our '87 Escort to our nephew - it had THREE HUNDRED AND THIRTEEN THOUSAND miles on it. He drove it another 60K before finally driving it into a creek or something. Had an '89 Ranger that was a true champ, though my '95 Ranger (bought used for a second truck) was definitely a lemon - nothing serious, just lots of little quirky things that would go wrong. I'd still have the '89 but I traded both it and the '95 in on the '04 - the dealer cut me too good a deal to pass up.
Meanwhile, the red '73 VW bug convertible sits paitiently under its cover, waiting for spring...
