Yeah--good idea! And why aren't there any "wacky" teardrops and tiny trailers? The guy with the fish motif is the only one I've noticed that isn't up to formula.

Here in Minnesota we have an ice (fishing) house parade at Lake Mille Lacs with many, many wacky houses paraded through town on their trailers. I seem to recall such events in Wisconsin and New York also.

Granted, we might have to haul them around with a disguise on them--or on us--but it would be a lot of fun at a get together.

Hmmm... could we even get into campgrounds with trailers that looked like deranged toads or pumpkin coaches or whatever?

Type82e,

Wish I had a photo of the one I built out of 1/2 inch OSB. At the time I had never seen a Tear - Just wanted a bed I could pull behind my VW. Built it around 1980 on an HF chassis. Was square except for a small radius on the top front. Really ugly but got lots of comments. Roof was treated with that silver stuff you put on house trailers for water proofing. A little polyurethane on the sides.

Had a galley in the back (just shelves and storage space. The galley would leak but the bed never got wet. Enjoyed it about 5 years then pushed it off the chassis into the landfill.

Yep, It was Redneck all the way
If it's not broken, you're not trying hard enough.

Well, I did build a tiny trailer last summer that could be considered non-traditional. It took less than a half hour to build and was home for a week during my annual trip to the NHRA US Nationals in Indy. I did a tongue in cheek "tech" post on it at a rodding forum I'm on if you care to see it. http://www.roddingroundtable.com/forums ... highlight=

It kind of represents my skill level up to this point so you can see why I'm impressed with everyone here.

Hey Purplepickup... NICE!

I think you deserve the T&TTT LOWBUCK Award. Doubt that I can come up with a less expensive model so I'll have to think of something different. Now I have a good reason to pick up another trailer frame.

We like it. Reminds us of our first tent camper. Instead of 2x4s and bungie cords, that one had an aluminum frame with the tent pitched over it. Broke one of the aluminum tubes one day when I got dizzy and fell off the frame as we were setting up camp. Repaired it with a pair of pliers and a hatchet. Used the pliers to make both ends of the broken / pinched aluminum "round" again. Used the hatchet to whittle a tree branch plug.. like a large dowel to fasten everything back together. Repair lasted as long as we had the trailer.

Oh and we may show up at Purtis Creek with a camper after all. Might pitch a tent on top of the trailer for the weekend. ;)

I'm not sure how you define "dodgy," but this interior is at least unusual

Found a few in my picture file. One of the main reasons folks like Teardrops or trailers in general is, it gets them up off the ground....Well this guy really has a phobia about sleeping on the ground.

However I can understand his lodgic when down at the lake.

Here's a small one that is affordable. Roly Nelson built it for his attack dog Liza and I took the pic at the Sweetwater gathering in San Diego February of last year.
