We are always looking to improve our little trailers for our creature comfort or to just be a damn show off at a gathering what's up your sleeve ?

I'll start this off with a few that WILL happen (unless she who makes the rules says enough)

I purchased a 12 volt and a 120 volt ac demand water pump at a yard sale last fall for $5.00 each, these will provide water from the 4" pvc belly tanks I want to install this spring !

I found the plans for a pneumatic lift I want to install on the hatch.
Some pvc and a air shock installation kit and it should be very do- able.

O.K. O.K. I'll quit after this one.

I bought the 8"w x 14" tall cast iron pot belly stove for a wood burning heater. I have figured out that there is no place in the sleepy side or in the galley for it. SO tomorrow I am going into work and borrow the HEATED shop to build a mini slide out to house the wood burner safely. It will be mounted in one of the window openings on the door. A large cooler size box lined with fire rated drywall and galvanized ductwork tin will be mounted in the window opening after arrival at the campsite and the detachable chimney (Auto exhaust pipe) will be put in place. O.K. I'll buy a carbon monoxide detector for the nervous nellies but I have confidence in this design.

P.S. Guys bring lots of marshmellows to the 1/19/08 shivaree just in case

My new trailer is 65" wide inside.

On the Door (I have no window in it) I was going to put a small 12X12 Mirror.

Then I thought about putting a fold down wooden shelf with a cut-out that a wash basin would fit into. A little shelf/compartment for Tooth brush and paste, maybe a washcloth and some Hotel sized soap.

It would all fold up when not in use, as far as sticking into the cabin when folded up..with the 65" interior width it really wouldn't interfere that much. Plus I could fold it down and use it inside as well.

Dumping the water from the inside is my next problem to figure out.

Happy Trails

I did mine with a Ford window motor and a mechanism from an RV step.

I can't think of a thing I would add to mine. I took 2 1/2 years to build it thinking everything out a head of time. Just a couple of upgrades that were planned but to this day have had no reason to make those upgrades. Was in no rush to get it finished. For that reason, I consider my teardrop finished and am very happy with it. :)

I tend to agree with Gage on this one. The Tear Drop is finished how I wanted it, and so far I haven't seen anything I want to change or add, but I am thinking about building another camper, just haven't decided what it will be.

I built mine rather quickly in 2006, then added these items last year:
12 volt fan module
side dining table
magazine rack
new interior light
gravity feed water tank/shelf
small fold-down tables on the inside walls
a tongue box
a set of adjustable wheel chocks
drip cap over the large window
window curtains
There's not much left for this year except to add a curtain under the galley counter (like you used to see on wall-mounted porcelain kitchen sinks years ago). There are no cabinets there and a curtain will hide the junk we store there. Of course, I might think of more stuff if I keep reading other folks' ideas!
