That looks great :applause: And about that sanding....It is the only part of my build that I don't care for...It seems to never end!

Its been awhile but I've been working a lot on the tongue box and I'm almost finished. Just need to add a lock, seal the screws and trim the caulk. Boy did it turn out to be a ridiculous amount of work. I thought I could bang it out in a weekend and here we are 3 weeks later! The box holds my generator, fuel and some miscellaneous stuff yet to be determined.

Wow Bruce!!! That looks great, I can see why it has a bunch of time into it. Well thought out and cleanly built. What about your little BBQ? Doug

Bruce,

How much does it cut down the noise by running the generator inside the box?

Mike...

Doug,
Thanks! Unfortunately, the little grill just won't fit. I've got a place picked out inside the trailer for it.

Mike,
I haven't run the generator inside the box yet to see if its quieter. I'll give it a try an let you know.

Mike,

Here's a video of the generator running in the open and then inside of the box. It was a little quieter in the box, but not a lot.

Great little video Bruce....it sounded quieter to me, but it's a pretty quiet one to begin with. I wish mine started that easily, I usually have some colorful language involved in starting mine, + I get a cardio workout!!! Doug

Thanks Doug,

I posted the video in its own topic with some links to other generator run videos for comparison.

Wow, it's been almost a month since I last posted pictures. We went back and painted the floor and the frame. Here's Jean hard at work:
Image
We used floor and porch paint and it turned out pretty good. I insulated the floor but didn't take any pictures  I just left the insulation exposed so we'll see how it holds up.
Image

I installed the brakes and packed the bearings. I went over to NAPA and got a replacement set of bearings and seals so I have the NAPA numbers for a 3500# flexiride axle if anyone is interested.
Image

We also painted the frame with Rustbullet. I really like how the Rustbullet went on and it seems to be pretty tough stuff. We're not going to give it a topcoat, the Rustbullet doesn't need it and we like the color:
Image

Then I moved on to the trailer wiring. I've got all the wiring run for the lights, power and brakes. I used a terminal strip for the rear lights, its a trick I used on my Jeep that worked pretty good:
Image

I ran all the wiring in smurf pipe. Now that I have a welder its a lot easier to install brackets for stuff like that.
Image

Finally, I installed the water tank. I'll bolt down the floor today and maybe install the spare tire and the gas regulator.
Image
Next its on to the walls and the popup roof.

I started the pop top this weekend. I've got the framing for the pop up done, I'll start the base next weekend. I ordered some windows from Grant at Lil; Bear so I'll have to wait till Wednesday or so for them to get here. I'm also waiting for piano hinges to get here before I start skinning anything.

I'm way overdue on pictures, I've got a bunch but I'll spread them out over a couple of days.

I've got the side walls for the pop top built, here's the framing for a window:

A paint can has the perfect radius for the corners:

I've insulated the sides and skinned them:

The pop top roof is insulated and skinned, I'll post some pictures of it later. This whole pop up thing is way more work than I thought it would be!

Here's the finishing touches to the Pop top construction:

Here's the interior side, with framing for a roof vent. The cleats at the sides are where the flip down walls will be hinged.
Image

Here's the roof spars:
Image

Here's the insulation and the wiring to the vent. I skinned it with 1/8" ply but forgot to take a picture of it.
Image

I'm kind of sick of the Pop top so I'm moving on to the walls. I still need to apply finish and the Filon skin but that's going to have to wait till later. It's no light weight, even though I tried to keep it light. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to lift it but I'm not sure Jean will be able to.
