Lookie what I got!

Postby starleen2 » Wed Aug 06, 2008 10:14 pm

Look what I got tonight! A Wagner 100 yr limited edition miniature set – it was gift from an elderly lady. She and I were visiting one day and I mentioned that I like to cook with cast iron. Her face then beamed with delight – her husband – who has long since passed – collected CI with a passion. She said he was a collector and had a barn full of the stuff – her children did not share his enthusiasm ( I felt like asking her if she needed another child and could I be it) She said that she had something I would enjoy and that she would bring it tonight – well here it is. Someday soon she said I could go into the barn and pick out something - and that would mean a lot to her and husband – You the story of the person walking into a barn and finding an unrestored valuable sports car? – that’s the way I feel right now – all giddy!

Okay... next potluck you get to make cornbread, skillet beans and DO cobbler... I prefer Apricot.

How sweet of the lady to bless you with the DO.

Wow! Still in the box and never used. Congratulations!

Before you use it or throw the box away, you might want check to see if it is worth more as a collectors item if left in the box and not used.

I know, some people don't put much stock in collectors items but if it's worth a lot...?.... It could actually be a "collector's sin" if you use it.

Sweet!... Dean will be jealous when he sees that.

You should look for a 5in Lodge DO if you get to pick something out again.

Now that is Special....

I like the Wagner stuff and that square pan is real nice for the morning fixings.

Now if she has a barn full of IRON... what else might she sell or be gone with?

I feel a fit of Castiron~itus coming on ~

Wow! that is so cool! Don't forget to bring your camera when you get invited to the barn! Some people may be going through the shakes after seeing your collectors edition gift.

Hey I love your set. I never saw one. After seeing yours I looked on e-bay and they have one for sale and called it a kids set. It also has the box with it.

I don't even have my first DO yet (camp type) but I'm crazy about that set. Have always used CI fry pans. And LOVE miniatures.

You must be really special - or really full of it  Just kiddin'

I read a thread name "Look what I got" clicked on it and the first thing I saw on the page was this avatar.... look what I got, huh. Startled me :)
