Although we still have another month or so of camping opportunity in Shenandoah NP (depending on weather), my current project is planning a cross-country trip in spring '09.

Anyone here ever stay at the El Rancho Hotel in Gallup, New Mexico?

Two projects:
1--Work on upgrades to the Sunspot. I've got water damage to fix, seams and windows to recaulk, probably will have to pull and then reseal the roof vent, would like to add a solar-powered fan to the roof vent, need to re-wire the 12v system and since I'm doing that already I'd like to build a solar-charging component into the new 12v system...

and something non-trailer that also keeps me busy...

2--get Madison ready to compete at the advanced and excellent levels in AKC Rally, the Novice level in AKC obedience and the Novice level in AKC agility standard and jumpers, and certify for competition as an AKC Tracking Dog. There are a lot of shows between now and mid-April, which is the English Cocker Spaniel Club of America National Specialty in Ohio. Her breeder and my co-owner will be at the national, and I would *love* to be able to run M. so that both Cathy and Lisa can see her compete.

And if I make enough headway on the SunSpot to-do list, I can use the national specialty as my first camping trip of 2009...

Living in NM all my life, believe it or not I've never actually stayed in Gallup. I've only driven thru. I'll ask around and see if anybody I know knows anything about the place.

Well, Since you ask Yes, a fairly big project.

Image

This is our "loft"/ upstairs/ whatever:

The bath is to the right -- was already there hence the different paneling.

The rest was a big open room.

The first bedroom was partitioned off just enough to allow the hallway to the second bedroom.

The transom's are for light and ventilation to the otherwise isolated bedroom.
The return for Central Heating is in the isolated room with vents in the first open space and the back bedroom.

Lot's of rewiring, can lights, ceiling fans etc.

The "headboard" for the bed is an extra piece of paneling I'll use for a knee wall with spindles as a safety feature to block someone falling off the stair opening.

Just the least bit more trim as you can see and I'll be back at work on my Fiberglass Play-Mor II  :applause: :D

Oh, BTW, YES, the wall is sloping. It's a gambrel roof and the sloping wall follows the pitch of the roof.

With the walls tilted out and the rounded roof line, it has a Vardo feel to it. Since I like Vardos, I find the shape quite attractive.

Working on the new build, seen here in progress. It is often warm enough in Alabama to camp until December (sometimes longer), so we'd like to finish in the next few weeks and get in at least one trip this season!

Good grief, isnt it the weekend yet?
Maybe if I sleep in the camper the week
will pass faster

I've been working on the back galley. Need to make the doors for the cabnets and make the drawers and the back will be finished. It doesn't get that cold here so I plan to do some repairs on my house this winter. Always something to do.

Steve, your standy is going to look awesome.
Sherri, It sure is looking great. :) Peg

Thanks Mandy. The roof bows are several thin pieces of wood laminated together, I built a jig to clamp them in while the epoxy cures.

Happy Birthday again Joanne, yup it is a Vardo for sure, Hope the finished trailer is as attractive as the shape

Geron,

I sure like the warmth of all that wood in your remodeled loft.

Sherri,
You sure have a lot of room in the new trailer
