Pretty cool...I've thought about converting my B.O.B. trailer to an electric pusher, but haven't even felt the need to attach it to my recumbent yet

The things that we liked were that you can haul cargo,groceries, roadkill, etc.... and you can easily detach and use your bike without it....I managed to scrounge up all the parts from trash pile bike collection... Welding and grinding next week... :thumbsup:

Have you found a source for the hub motor and controller yet? Seems that with a cargo hauler you would want at least 1000W motor. how about a scooter hub motor/wheel? :thinking:

http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/index.html Those hub motors are really nice ,but alas ...EXPENSIVE :shock:

I had a 300watt scooter motor lying about so we'll go with that mounted on the swing arm sorta like this ....

Being 60 , I'm required to do a modicum of exercise, so will be pedaling a good bit....and not hauling too much ...just an assist for me ...
Steve , you could do a Gypsy top on your cooler to match... :thumbsup:

My sisters father in law recycled an old golf cart that had been scrapped. He gutted it and installed 2 12 volt batteries and an old generator wired to act as a motor. He and his wife ran all over their campground for days at a time on a single charge. It had plenty of power. I didn't study it too close , at the time it didn't interest me , wish I had studied it more now. Might be a cheap e-motor ( if you can find a generator instead of an alternator now days) I assume he varied the voltage going in to act as a speed control. Like I said wish I had studied it closer. Maybe some of the electric guru's can chime in on speed control. :thinking:

I have been looking for a citicar for 2 years they are either in Florida or Calif.

There was one in Michigan last week on E-bay but it went nuts
$1800.00 and in very poor body condition

Found one in indianapolis IN 45 miles away last year and it was sold the day before I was finally able to get a hold of the guy.

Need a highway approved chassis then I intend to modify to a 18 horse diesel with vaporization aspiration for vegetable oil with diesel fuel startup only. I drive 55 miles a day but the most direct route is all secondary county roads with minimal traffic so top speed of 55 +/- is just fine.

I know I know what does this have to do with bicycles.

All about getting from point A to B without ruining the planet .....any further...
Back to the bike thing , thinking of a small solar panel on top of the cooler , just for a little additional charging...a strut on the"cooler" top would allow inclination of the panel for best sunlight...but let the Beer get warm ...ecch!!!

That is a great idea about a PUSHER system to retro-fit. Hmmmm that old 24volt DC series 2 HP motor I have hanging around?????

Can you say DRAG TEAR. Wheeles and burnout in the camp grounds.
