It is a 8/49 242C. I got a "fair " deal on it. It was less the buying one on eBay if you include the shipping.

Here is a size comparison for you with the 202 (200A also) & the 242.

Nice acquisition Jeremy  .

Kinda looks like mine. Got some parts for the 202 today. A new generator sure makes for a bright light. Danny

Danny....are you burning a #91 or a #21 mantle in the 202? The #91 is a bit larger and it appears to be a larger burn in it to me. Doug

Doug, I only buy #21 mantels in the 4 pack. I think there's some reflection going on in that photo. :) Danny

 It would be interesting to find out just what that "Professional" designation was all about.
Professional can mean several things, some not worth mentioning. Danny

Danny & Doug-

In this area the Amish rely on those lanterns everyday :applause:

I've seen 202's in Harness Shops, Milking Parlors and Woodworking Shops

Cheers,

It is all cleaned up now.

I ran into a snag. The generator does not fit into the mixing chamber. I have a generator that does fit but it is plugged up.

Here is my 424C burning.

It took 5 stores but I found a new generator for it. I bought 2. No #99 mantles. I am trying a American Mantle Co. # AWM-785. It is a little bigger than the Coleman # 21.

Looks great Jeremy. Curious where you found a generator & how much. I should have ordered two from Old Town. :D Danny

Thanks, I'll find one in my area. Walmart is the best store for the #21 mantels, 4 for $2.00. :D Danny

That makes sense. There are a lot of things about the 202 and the older 242 that are common. It's much more of a durable lantern as opposed to the 200's which were popular later. The 202 is a more "workhorse" version of it. They probably introduced the 202 after finding that the demand was there for a more durable one. Just my ideas though. Doug

That lantern really cleaned up nicely Jeremy! Good job. I'm thinking that we should pick a time and a date and every one with a lantern fire them all up and take a pic and post it within something like a 15 min. window....sort of our virtual "light up", not to be confused with a flame up, huh Jeff! I've got all mine operating now...well...I think the quiklight will run. Doug
