What if we KNEW the world would end in 2012...

Postby caseydog » Sat Jan 24, 2009 6:28 pm

Would it bring out the best in people, or the worst?

With all the buzz about the Mayan Calendar, Planet X, and the world ending on December 21, 2012, I got to wondering. I do that -- I can't help it.

Besides, I can't afford lumber and it's too damn cold to build.

Okay, let's assume we KNEW for sure, with 100-percent scientific proof that is beyond even the shadow of doubt, that the world would end on that date.

What would happen. Would we come together in the face of this reality, or would all hell break loose?

Vote and comment.

Caseydog:

I think you need another category: Both

This is because it would depend upon the person.

- Those who don't care or think there's no hope and that they will probably go to Hadies would probably act worse than ever before.

- Those who believe and think they might make it to heaven would probably act better than angels.

- Those who honestly believe they'll be going to heaven will rejoice and pray even more. :worship:

- Those who don't believe in heaven or hell will probably do whatever they feel will allow them to live for the remaining time they have while still being able to live with their consciences. :NC

- And, there would be those who would simply try to go about their business, putting one foot in front of the other. :SH

By the way, I used to have a dog that I called Casey Dawg. He passed away about a year ago, after a very long, mostly good life. Every time I see your ID, I remember fond memories of him. :)

Best Regards!

If those in science knew beyond a shadow of a doubt, world goverments would silence them to keep all hell from breaking loose.

Looks like we're an optimistic bunch.

I dont think the world is going to end but things could drastically change for the worse in the years to come. Im usually pretty optimistic but current affairs make things look grim. My awnser? Get in touch with the big guy, live right and prepare for the worst case scenario as much as you feel like and go about your life as normal..

Problem with thinking that all people who believe in Heaven would be a Christian version of good is some folks who believe in Heaven think they get a better deal in Heaven if they kill the right people.

If without a shadow of a doubt everyone knew---half wouldn't believe it and of the believers a whole bunch would think God might change his mind.

There is no real answer cause we believe as we please. ;)

I think it would be a sobering moment to know the exact time of extinction of the human species. I sure that I would want my family around to embrace each other and say our goodbyes and get ready to join each other in eternity. :(

"Both" is winning the poll! :D

I think I don't want to be here when (if) the end comes. However, it's my understanding that it isn't really an end; but rather, an end of what we're used to knowing. :cigar:
