Canned ham or bread loaf?

Postby doug hodder » Thu Jul 09, 2009 12:26 am

I've got a couple of options drawn out for a new standy, actually more of a "stoopy" for me. Thing is...it's got to fit in the garage and there are certainly some drawbacks either way. Which of these type trailers do you think would have the most street appeal? Sorry, don't have the profiles available for viewing, but based on the history/ appearance of both designs, what do you think? Gotta get going, only 12 mos. til IRG 3.0 Doug

...I vote for the fourth one because that's just the way I am...in actuality I think I prefer the canned ham since it is more rounded making it pleasing to the eye...the bread loaf on the other hand is just plain looking and leaves me hunting a can of tuna...or maybe some pb&j :D ;)

Why not a little bit of both, Doug ... ...?

Bread loaf front ... pseudo-canned-ham/teardrop rear ... you know, kind of like a mini Spartan Manor! You were almost there once, and we all know you could pull it off beautifully! ... and, oh hell, we all just know how you love a challenge ...    ...!

Now there is a problem...I keep eyeballing both the Widget and the Hollywood Nomad. I'd personally like to see you tackle a cold molded build...

The bread loaf is going to be a very difficult build to get all the radiused corners all the way around and look proportionally correct. The interior trim would be a real challenge, but I've got a plan to hide a lot of the interior curved corners....cabinets! I've got them figured out using a cold molded method, but I don't know if I want to put forth that type of effort and I'm concerned that it just won't have the "look" I want. I think they need to be quite a bit longer than the width to really make it look appropriate.

A canned ham is a much easier build and I was wanting to do up the sides with the "official" 3" wide stripe aluminum sheeting. Either one would have lots of windows, and utilize the same frame, a drop down. I've spent a bit of time down with Steve E on his Scotty and I'm sort of liking it....a lot! Doug

PS Steve.....I'll get you the web site address in case you need some of those pants!

Dave...it's looking like I will have some freed up garage space here in the next couple of weeks.

"Bingo"'s in the air tonight, I swear... I've just posted the word twice within the last hour... and I've never been in this forum until now.

A low-profile stoopy, with a slightly forward slant both front and rear would be nice. Kinda like a sorta halfa breadloaf. a.
